How To Romanticize Your Spring
1. Start your mornings with the windows open
We all spend winter mornings locked inside with everything sealed shut. But in spring, it doesn’t need to be that way.
The moment you wake up, walk to all the windows, open them up, and take a deep breath of the fresh spring air.
Let the sound of birds and nature replace your alarm for a few minutes. Let the breeze move your curtains while you make coffee or tea.
Then, come back to the windows, stand there half-awake with your mug in hand, and just exist for a second before the day asks anything of you.
You can do more morning rituals after this, but even if you don’t have time for that, just this one habit is enough to change your morning energy.
It’s all about letting the season meet you where you are, and starting your mornings with your windows open is the best way to do that.
2. Listen to soft music
I am a loud-music kinda girlie, but during spring, I am naturally drawn to softer sounds, because that’s what spring needs.
This season is not about loud energy or rushing all the time. You’ll have plenty of time to do that in the summer.
Spring needs to be unfolded slowly, and soft music is the way to do that. For this season, trade your heavy playlists for music that feels gentle and warm.
Add acoustic songs, old favorites you forgot about, and tracks that sound like sunlight through a window or driving with the windows cracked open.
Put on your spring playlist while you’re getting ready, cleaning your space, or making dinner. Let it be background noise rather than something you actively think about.
Over time, these songs will start to feel like the soundtrack to the spring version of your life.
And months from now, hearing one of them will take you right back here to this lovely time of the year.
One lovely recommendation from me: Deeper Well (the whole album) by Kacey Musgraves. I never start my spring season without listening to this whole album.

3. Take yourself on no plan walks
If you read my blogs regularly, you’d know that I am an organizer through and through.
From my meals to my workouts, I like to have plans for the day laid out beforehand.
But spring is a season of being…free. It’s the time of year to loosen up your schedule and do fun things when the urge strikes.
And one of the spring activities that’s better off being unplanned is walking.
During this time, there’s movement everywhere. Plants and flowers are budding, people are sitting outside again, and dogs are being walked like it’s their favorite activity on earth (which, it is).
So, whenever you have some free time on your hands, join in the movement!
Leave your phone in your pocket, don’t track your step, and don’t decide how long you’ll be out. Just walk until it feels like enough for your mind and body.
Notice which houses have their windows open, which flowers are blooming first, and the way the air smells at different times of day.
Spring walks aren’t about exercise. They’re about reminding yourself that the world is moving, growing, and still full of little miracles worth noticing.
The more walks you take this way, the more your health will flourish, and your mind will love you for it, too.
4. Buy yourself flowers just because
What was the last time you bought yourself flowers?
If it’s been a while, or if you’ve never ever done this before, then you need to do it this spring, as often as you can.
It’s good if you have people in your life who love you and also give you flowers, but that’s no reason not to do it for yourself, too.
Flowers represent hope, freshness, beauty, and love — all of which you deserve from yourself.
Don’t do it to reward yourself or because you had a good week. Buy flowers simply because they make you happy, and because it’s spring!
You’ll literally be bringing the fresh energy of spring indoors.
You don’t have to buy an expensive bouquet. Just get a small bunch from the grocery store.
Trim the stems, put them in a vase with fresh water, and put it somewhere you can see (like the kitchen counter, your bedside table, or your desk).
Every time you look at the flowers that you bought for yourself, they’ll remind you of the love you have for yourself.
They’ll make you want to go soft, slow down, and smile to yourself at random times.
Don’t forget that letting yourself enjoy things without guilt is also part of romanticizing.

5. Refresh one corner of your space every week
Spring cleaning is not something people look forward to, for obvious reasons. But can it be skipped? Of course not.
You need to store away your winter wardrobe, clean the surfaces and storage areas, and declutter to make space for the coming summer days.
But how do you romanticize something so exhausting? By breaking it down into weekly tasks, of course!
Who says you have to do it all at once? In fact, you probably shouldn’t. Just choose one small area to reset every week.
You can start with a nightstand, do the bathroom next week, and then pick up the corner of your desk that’s been collecting random things.
Spread your cleaning throughout spring to slowly transition from winter to summer.
Here are three steps to follow when tackling any area:
- Clear out things
- Wipe down surfaces
- Put back only what you actually use or love
If you break down your spring cleaning this way, you’ll actually be able to achieve a lot, and actually look forward to weekly cleaning (it’s a great stress buster).
P.S.: To spruce things up, I’d suggest adding one spring element (like a seasonal candle, a plant, a framed spring art, or a floral bedsheet) to your room. Bring in that fresh spring energy!
6. Romanticize your errands
Spring errands deserve better than rushed energy and messy ponytails (unless that’s your thing, then absolutely keep it).
Get dressed like you’re going somewhere you’re excited about.
Put on sunglasses, grab an iced coffee, walk a little slower through the grocery store, notice what’s in season, and take the long way home if the weather’s nice.
Errands don’t have to feel like interruptions to your life. They are part of your life.
When you stop trying to get through them as fast as possible, they become moments instead of tasks.
Spring is short and sweet, so you gotta make every moment count to really live it each day.

7. Read outside whenever you can
Reading outside feels indulgent in the best way, like you’re choosing pleasure on purpose.
And because of the lovely weather that spring brings, it’s something you can do a lot.
In your free time during the day, read on your balcony, your front steps, or a park bench (my favorite).
Bring a book that doesn’t require too much effort. Something comforting and that you can dip in and out of.
Even ten minutes outside with a book can reset your mood.
You feel the sun on your skin, hear the sound of people passing by, and get the feeling that you’re not in a rush to be anywhere (even if you have tasks planned for the rest of the day).
Spring invites you to slow down without making it a whole thing. Let reading be part of that, and enjoy nature serving as a beautiful backdrop.

8. Lean into lighter meals and slower eating
Just like with everything else, spring also naturally shifts how we want to eat.
This is the season to eat fresh fruits, crisp salads, and simple pastas. Basically, meals that don’t feel heavy to eat or complicated to prepare.
I’d say lean into that, and align your gut health with the season’s needs.
Cook meals that feel easy and nourishing, eat without scrolling, sit near a window, and serve your food nicely.
There’s romance in feeding yourself well and listening to what your body wants instead of forcing structure or rules.
Let your meals in spring be moments of care instead of something to rush through. Your gut will totally love you for it, trust me.

9. Revisit something you loved last spring
There are things in life that make us feel good, but we don’t return to all of them, though we should! Because it’s such a waste not to do that, right?
Spring is a perfect place to make a habit of picking your comfort things.
Think back to last spring and recall the things that you loved indulging in.
It can be:
- A book you read around this time last year
- A show you watched on quiet evenings
- A habit you drifted away from (like yoga)
- A playlist you haven’t played in months
Just to be clear, we’re not trying to recreate the past here. We’re just honoring the love we hold for different things and seeing if we still feel the same.
It’s also fun to see how your preferences have changed and how you’ve grown out of things (or back in).
Spring has a way of connecting versions of yourself, so let yourself feel that continuity.
Even if nothing clicks back for you, it’ll be a fun little self-exploration exercise.
10. Get dressed with intention
Winter outfits are about survival, but spring outfits are about expression. This is one of my favorite things about this season.
Pull out lighter fabrics, softer colors, and shoes that don’t feel like armor.
Let getting dressed feel fun again, and not something you do on autopilot (like putting on all those winter layers).
I am not asking you to buy a whole new wardrobe. Since Spring is a short season, I don’t go buy new stuff every year. If you need or want new stuff, I’d recommend going thrift shopping and saving money.
And then every day of the season, pick your outfits based on your feelings and intention.
Your outfits can be colorful or soft, playful or quiet, confident or shy.
Whatever energy you have on the inside, let it out and give yourself the respect of showing up as you are on the inside. It’ll feel amazing, believe me.

11. Let yourself feel hopeful
My last tip to romanticize spring is to be hopeful again about life.
There’s no need to make big declarations or make a five-year life plan.
Just let yourself believe that good things are possible, that ease can exist alongside effort, and that joy doesn’t have to be earned.
You can also practice being hopeful by:
- Opening the windows when you’re feeling low
- Creating short journal entries
- Taking a walk
- Picking up a new hobby
- Reading positive books
- Watching happy shows (like Anne with an E)
Make yourself trust the season, and invite hope in your heart again. It’s the best gift you can give yourself in spring.

Romanticizing is often confused with making things aesthetic and perfect.
But more than anything, it’s about paying attention and treating your life as something worth savoring.
Since spring is a season of tuning in and enjoying, romanticizing is the best thing you can do at this time.
Don’t change who you are, but try to soften your edges.
Let the season meet you where you are, and let it remind you that beginnings don’t have to be life-changing to make a difference.
Sometimes, all it takes is noticing the light and romanticizing the little moments to give yourself a fresh start.
