Wondering what to do with your day off? Here are 25 cozy and restful day off ideas to help you truly recharge, without the guilt.

As a work-from-home girlie, it can be all too easy for me to blur the line between rest and work.
My laptop lives a few steps away from my bed. My “office” is also my living room.
And when your job is online, there’s always one more thing you could be doing, one more post to write, and one more thing to improve.
These past couple of months, I’ve been working even harder to stay standing amidst all the online competition.
And to be very honest, my cup has been running empty because of it.
I’ve been feeling tired in a way that a good night’s sleep can’t fix. The kind of tired where even the things you love start to feel like chores.
I’ve had enough, though. I’m finally giving myself plenty of days off, real ones, where I close the laptop and mean it.
And what do ya know, my body and mind are finally healing.
That’s the magic and power of a day off well spent, I guess.
So, in this post, I am sharing 25 day off ideas to help you recharge, relax, and restore your own energy.
I’ve included my favorites, plus a bunch more to help you build the most restful day ever.
Grab a blanket and a cup of something warm, and let’s get into it!
25 Things To Do On Your Day Off
1. Get lost in a fantasy book

There’s no better escape than a good fantasy book.
Pick a story that wraps you up in another world, like one of my favorites, Once Upon a Broken Heart.
It has all the magic, romance, and twisty fairy-tale vibes that make it easy to lose track of time.
Curl up in your favorite spot with a blanket and a warm drink, and let yourself read for hours.
If you’re in a reading slump, choosing something light and immersive is the way to break free of it.
And a day off is a perfect time to fall back in love with books.
2. Have a journaling session with spearmint tea

Sipping tea is one of my favorite rituals, and spearmint tea is my latest obsession.
If you don’t already have it, I highly recommend grabbing some spearmint tea bags specifically for your days off. They are so relaxing (and also very good for your skin, apparently).
Brew a cup, grab your journal, and settle in somewhere quiet. Then, you just write whatever comes to your mind.
How are you feeling? What’s been weighing on you? What are you looking forward to?
There’s no right way to do this. Just write in a way that makes you slow down and give your thoughts a place to land.
Who knows, you might even end up carrying this habit into your everyday life.
3. Dip your feet in warm water and Epsom salt
Your feet carry you through everything. So, on your day off, give them some love.
Fill a basin or tub with warm water, and stir in some Epsom salt.
If you have any flower petals, like rose or lavender, scatter a few on top. It looks gorgeous, and it feels like a mini spa at home.
Sit back, put on some soft music, and soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
Pat your feet dry afterward, and moisturize them with a rich cream. Pure bliss!
4. Watch a TV series in bed

Yes, you’re allowed to spend your day off in bed with a show.
Choose a series you love, or one you’ve been meaning to start. Fluff up your pillows, pull up your blanket, and press play.
And yes, keep snacks and a drink nearby so you don’t have to move.
Your goal here is complete comfort, so don’t feel pressured to be productive. Let the story of the show take over!
If you’d like to make it feel more special, change your sheets earlier in the day, so you climb into a fresh, cozy bed.
5. Have a tea party with a friend

I don’t personally like big parties on my day off. They can get loud and draining.
But a tea party with just one friend? That’s a different story. It’s cozy, intimate, and so relaxing.
Set up a pretty table with your favorite teacups, a pot of tea, and some treats like scones, cookies, and sandwiches.
Then, catch up for hours with your bestie. It’s the kind of gathering that will leave you feeling full, not frazzled.
6. Take a fresh air walk in relaxing clothes

Put on your softest, most comfortable clothes, and head outside. And please skip the “I need to get my steps in” mindset.
This walk isn’t about exercise. It’s about breathing fresh air, feeling the breeze, and noticing the world around you.
Walk through a park, along a quiet street, or around your neighborhood. Look at the sky, the trees, and the details you usually miss.
You will come back feeling so much lighter.
7. Do yoga at home in a sunny spot

Find a spot in your home where air and sunlight can touch your skin.
Open a window, roll out your mat, and move through some gentle stretches (like cat-cow, child’s pose, and a seated forward fold).
You can also follow a beginner video, or simply move however your body asks.
Feeling the warm sunlight on your skin while you stretch is one of the simplest, most satisfying ways to reset.
8. Do Your Nails While Listening To Music

Put on a playlist that matches your mood, and give yourself a manicure!
I recommend picking a color that reflects how you feel today.
You can go for soft pink for a gentle mood, a bold red for confidence, or a sparkly shade for no reason at all.
It’s kinda meditative painting your nails slowly. You’re forced to sit still, and it’s hard to be stressed while you’re focusing on your brushstrokes.
Let your nails dry while you sit back and sip your tea.
9. Take A Nap With Meditation Playing

A day off without a nap is a missed opportunity.
Put on a guided meditation or a sleep track, and let yourself drift off.
I like Jason Stephenson and Michael Sealey. Their calming voices and soothing music really melt away your tension.
Even a short 20 to 30-minute nap can leave you feeling refreshed. And if you don’t fall asleep, the meditation alone will still calm your mind.
10. Take a hot water bath with a special body wash

The luxury of a day off is that you can take as long as you need with your shower or bath.
Fill the tub with hot water, and use a sweet body wash that’s just for your days off. It might be strawberry, peach, caramel, mango, or citrus.
When the scent becomes part of your day-off routine, it signals to your body that it’s time to relax.
Light a candle, play soft music, and soak for as long as you like.
If you don’t have a bathtub, a long, hot shower with a good scrub works nicely, too.
11. Sleep in without setting an alarm

I usually like to wake up at the same time every day, but on my day off, no way am I letting the alarm disturb my sleep.
Today, let your body decide when it’s ready.
If you wake up early, stay in bed and stretch. If you wake up late, enjoy every minute of it.
Our bodies need rest more than we give them credit for, and sleeping in is one of the simplest forms of self-care.
Just don’t scroll through your phone the moment you open your eyes. Let your morning begin slowly.
12. Make a slow and pretty breakfast or brunch

On a regular workday, breakfast is probably something you inhale while checking your email. But not today, my friend.
Take your time to make something you love, like pancakes, avocado toast, a fruit bowl, or a perfectly fluffy omelet.
Set it up on a nice plate, and add a flower or a candle if you feel like it.
You can sit by the window and have your breakfast by the morning light. It will set up the best tone for the coming day.
13. Go phone-free for a few hours
This might be the most powerful idea on the list.
Switch your phone to silent, put it in a drawer or another room, and let it rest for a few hours. Mute work apps and email, too.
If you can’t go fully offline, just set some digital boundaries. Choose specific times to check messages, and stay away from social media.
Your mind will feel so relieved when it’s not being pulled in a dozen directions. You may feel a bit restless at first, but it will pass.
14. Cook or bake something comforting

Cooking can be a form of relaxation when there’s no deadline.
Choose a recipe that makes you feel warm and cozy. Banana bread, soup, a creamy pasta, or a tray of cookies are all great options.
Put on a playlist, tie on an apron, and take your time. Chop slowly, stir gently, and let the scents fill your home.
The best part is sitting down to enjoy something you made with care.
15. Give your space a soft reset

I am not asking you to deep clean here. Just spend a few minutes doing a little reset.
Pick one small area, like your bedside table or desk, and tidy it up. Change your bedsheets, open the windows, and light a candle. Put fresh flowers on a shelf.
Keep it short and sweet, so it doesn’t feel like work.
A fresh and peaceful environment will make your rest feel so much deeper.
16. Have A Solo Dance Party

Sometimes, you just need to move and let loose.
Make a playlist of songs that make you feel happy, and dance around your room like no one is watching.
Sing at the top of your lungs, twirl, and be silly.
It’s a free and fast way to shake off stress, boost your mood, and get a fun workout done at the same time.
17. Do a skincare routine

Turn your skincare routine into a mini spa session today.
Cleanse your face slowly, put on a face mask, and relax for 10 to 15 minutes. Finish with a gentle massage using your favorite moisturizer or face oil.
Add a pair of cold spoons or cucumber slices for tired eyes, if you want the full effect.
This is a lovely way to take care of yourself without needing to go anywhere, and your skin will thank you.
18. Visit a cafe or have a picnic

A change of scenery can do wonders for your mind, body, and soul.
Take yourself on a solo cafe date with a book, and order your favorite drink
You can also pack a picnic with snacks and a blanket, and head to a park. Pour tea from your thermos and enjoy your own company.
There’s no agenda. You’re just soaking up the moment and the joy of being by yourself in the world.
19. Get creative without any pressure

Doodle, color, paint, or craft, just for fun.
Pick up a coloring book, a sketchpad, or some watercolors. Try a simple craft like making a collage, pressing flowers, or writing calligraphy.
Forget about the end result. Creativity is a wonderful way to relax your mind, and it works best when you don’t expect anything of it.
You might surprise yourself with what you make.
20. Do a jigsaw puzzle

Puzzles are quiet, calming, and satisfying. And because of this, they make for an excellent day off activity.
Spread out the pieces on a table, put on a podcast or soft music, and start with the edges. Take your time, and enjoy every piece that clicks into place.
You won’t need to think about work, deadlines, or to-do lists. Your mind is simply focused on finding the next piece.
It’s a great activity for a rainy day or a lazy afternoon away from work.
21. Browse a bookstore or library

If you’re up for leaving the house on your day off, then wander through a library or bookstore.
Pick up books that catch your eye, read the first pages, and let yourself get curious.
Treat yourself to one or two you can’t leave without, or borrow some from the library.
The smell of books, the quiet atmosphere, and the endless possibilities can lift your mood instantly.
You can also take a notebook and write down titles that you’d like to read later.
22. Call a friend or write a letter
Connection is restorative, especially when it’s easy and unhurried.
Call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while, or send a long voice note to someone you love. Catch up on each other’s lives, laugh about silly things, and share what you’ve been up to.
If you’re not in the mood to talk, write a handwritten letter or card instead.
It’s a small gesture that makes both of you feel cared for.
23. Watch the sunset or go stargazing

Let nature close your day.
Find a good spot where you can see the sky, whether it’s a rooftop, a balcony, a park, or a hilltop. Bring a blanket and a warm drink, and sit quietly as the colors change.
After the sun goes down, look for the first stars. If you’ve got a stargazing app, use it to spot constellations and planets.
It’s humbling, peaceful, and a beautiful reminder to slow down.
24. Treat yourself to a favorite meal

Day offs deserve a delicious meal.
Order your favorite takeout, or head to a restaurant you love. Pick the dish that makes you happiest.
For me, that’s either a pizza or a burger, because I usually don’t go for those options on normal days.
If you’re in your healthy girl era, then you can add a fruit bowl to the mix. Nourishment and fun b
25. Do nothing and just exist
And finally, my favorite.
Let yourself do nothing, and don’t feel bad about it. Lie on the couch, stare out the window, or just sit in silence.
We live in a world that tells us to always be doing something.
But rest is not wasted time. It’s how you recover, think clearly, and come back with energy.
Doing nothing might feel strange at first, especially if you’re used to constant busyness.
Stay with it, and let yourself breathe.
Your Day Off Is Waiting!
A day off is a gift to yourself.
So, you don’t have to fill it with productivity or do everything on this list.
Pick the ideas that call to you, and let the day unfold at its own pace.
I’m learning to take my days off seriously, and it has already changed how I feel.
I’m calmer, happier, and so much more excited about the things I do.
I hope this list helps you do the same.
Because trust me, you deserve a day that feels soft and peaceful, and it’s okay to take it.
What are you going to do on your next day off? Tell me in the comments. I’d love to hear your favorite ways to relax!
