In this post, I share the perfect 6am morning routine that you can follow to begin your days feeling healthy and happy.

There are many ways to bring positive change to your life, but the most profound one has to be building a morning routine.
If you get your mornings right, there is little stopping you from creating good days for yourself.
But a lot of people struggle to love their mornings.
There are two major reasons for this: They either have too much going on early in the day or they don’t have enough.
This is why it’s so important to have some set morning rituals that can ground you in your day, whether you are a busy bee or a free bird.
So, today, I am sharing a realistic 6am morning routine (which is about one hour long) that will help you enter your day feeling calm, cool, and healthy.
If you’re ready to reset your mornings and start your days on a better note, then read on:
Simple 6AM Morning Routine
6:00am: Wake slowly and don’t touch your phone

The very first thing I’d recommend is avoiding your phone for the first few minutes of the morning.
Checking notifications, emails, or social media first thing in the morning makes your brain go from 0 to 100 in thirty seconds.
Before you’ve even brushed your teeth, your mind is already filled with other people’s lives, opinions, messages, and problems.
That is so exhausting!
What you need to do is create a softer start to your mornings. So, leave your phone behind and wake up slowly.
Keep a warm lamp beside your bed and turn it on when you’re up. Stretch in bed, walk to the window, and open your curtains.
Sit quietly for a minute and let yourself wake up properly before throwing information at your brain.
6:05am: Drink water before anything else

I love coffee deeply, emotionally, and spiritually. But that’s not the first thing I ever reach for in the morning, and neither should you.
Your body stays without water for hours while you sleep, so drinking water should be your first proper task for the day.
Walk to the kitchen, grab a glass of water, and sip slowly. You can check your phone during this time.
Sometimes I like adding lemon slices or keeping water in a cute glass bottle beside my bed because it makes the habit feel more enjoyable. You can try the same if water feels boring to you.
Tiny things like this help romanticize your mornings and make you love them more.
6:10am: Freshen up
Once you’ve had your first water of the day, hit the bathroom and freshen up.
Brush your teeth, wash your face with cold water and a gentle cleanser, tie up your hair, and apply a moisturizer and lip balm.
Basically, get yourself to feel fresh and human.
One thing I’ve been loving lately is opening the bathroom window while getting ready in the morning.
The cool air wakes you up fast and makes the entire routine so much nicer.
6:20am: Move your body gently

The thing I dislike about many ‘productive morning routines’ online is how aggressive they feel.
Going to a pilates class in the morning seems very glamorous, but unless you actually love waking up for that, it’s hard to keep up.
Your body literally just woke up.
Instead of forcing yourself into an intense morning exercise, a soft movement is a better long-term choice.
This could look like:
- stretching
- yoga
- pilates
- a slow walk outside
- mobility exercises
- a quick treadmill walk
Some mornings your body might want intensity, sure. But for most mornings, it just wants movement.
Personally, I think morning walks are the best way to get your morning movement in.
It feels so good to step outside early when the roads are still quiet and the air is fresh and cool. I take my dog out for a walk at this time, and we both love it.
You can do a simple 10–15-minute walk while listening to music or a podcast. It will improve your mood so much.
And if you don’t want to leave your house, there are many cozy workout videos online. Hit play, get your movement done, and then move on to the next part.
6:35am: Make a comforting drink

This is honestly my favorite part of the morning.
After moving around a little, I love making some kind of comforting drink and sitting down quietly for a few minutes.
Coffee obviously wins most mornings for me, but tea, matcha, or even a healthy smoothie works too. It can also be something different every day for you.
Also, don’t sleep on the power of making your drinks feel nice.
Use your favorite mug, froth the milk. light a candle, sit near a window, and play some soft music.
People think romanticizing your life has to involve expensive vacations or huge life changes, but it’s usually tiny moments like this that make your life beautiful.
Once your morning drink is ready, you can either sip in silence or combine it with the next thing on the morning routine.
6:40am: Write in a journal

I know morning journaling gets recommended constantly, but there’s a reason people keep talking about it. It genuinely helps so much.
But do you need to be writing five poetic pages every morning? Of course not.
Your journaling can just be:
- things that are stressing you out
- random thoughts
- a to-do list
- goals for the day
- things you’re grateful for
- reminders to yourself
Morning brain dumps are especially helpful if you wake up anxious or overwhelmed. Instead of carrying all those thoughts around mentally, you put them somewhere and make your brain go quiet.
If you’d like a pattern to your morning journaling, you can write:
- Three things you’re excited about
- One thing you’ll focus on today
- How do you want to feel today
These three prompts will help you approach your routine based on feeling rather than just productivity.
6:50am: Read something instead of scrolling

Mornings are one of the best times to read because your brain is fresh and less distracted. It’s also a smart way to reduce your morning scrolling.
Even if you only read for ten minutes, it can fill your mind with good thoughts instead of the negativity that can come from scrolling.
It could be a self-improvement book, fiction, poetry, or a memoir. You could even read a blog for 10 minutes.
Reading slows your mind down, while scrolling speeds it up. We should make good use of this fact, don’t you think?

7:00am: Start preparing for the day
Now, it’s time to head into your day and get ready.
Pick an outfit, tidy up your room, pack your bag if you need to head out, and once that’s all done, head to the kitchen to start preparing your breakfast.
Make something quick but protein-rich (like boiled eggs and fruits).
The last thing I do before diving into my day fully is write in a planner. This is the one I use, and it’s completely free for grabs for my readers.
Planning makes the rest of your day flow very smoothly, so it’s definitely something I recommend.
I also think it’s important to get dressed properly in the morning. It’s good for your energy.
Even if you work from home, changing out of pajamas is a good way to create mental separation between sleep mode and life mode.

Why You Need a 6am Morning Routine
More than productivity, the main reason to build an early morning routine is that it gives you peace.
It’s very comforting to wake up early before the rest of the world gets loud.
You get to give yourself a head start emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Your version of 6am morning could include journaling and yoga. Or it could include reading while sipping your coffee.
Feel free to play around with the morning rituals in this post and make the routine your own. The benefits of this will seriously show up in your days.
