Ready to give your home a pleasant makeover? Here is a simple guide that will tell you how to create good vibes in your home and surround yourself with positive energies.
One of the major life lessons I’ve learned in my wellness journey is that happiness can be created.
I’ve spent the last few months blasting music in the privy of my room, adding cute notebooks to my growing collection of journals, and paying more attention to the things that fill my heart with joy.
The 18-year-old me knew nothing about the art of creating happiness, but my 23-year-old self is starting to realize that you have the power to choose your own vibes.
Just to be clear, I believe in giving equal importance to every emotion and don’t promote toxic positivity.
It’s just that crying after a breakup feels more therapeutic in a room that you’ve nurtured with love rather than a space that’s devoid of positivity.
You don’t have to live by the rule of ‘good vibes only’, but there’s no harm in taking some steps to bring positive energy to your home, which isn’t a hard feat to achieve at all.
You’ll be surprised by the amount of difference some little tweaks and changes can make to your space.
But first, pretty please pin this post to share the love.
In this post, I’m dishing out some simple hacks that’ll help you create good vibes in your home.
Read on if you’re looking to fill your space with warm, sunshiny, and joyful vibes.
10 Tips To Create Good Vibes In Your Home
1. Let In Some Natural Light
To be candid, I was quite averse to the sun until last year (I know, I was a crazy bee), but then I started doing my morning meditation on my balcony, and wham – all of a sudden, I was a sunlight lover.
Exposure to sunlight increases the release of serotonin in the brain, a hormone that improves your mental health by lifting your mood and making you calmer.
The more in contact with sunlight you are, the happier you’ll be. During the day, open the blinds and curtains to let in some natural light.
This is a basic hack to enhance your home’s atmosphere, but it works like a charm.
I love how different my room looks with the sunlight flooding in v/s when the ceiling lights are on. It’s like having the option to switch between two different interiors.
The best thing about sunlight is that you don’t need to spend your money or put in any effort to get access to it. Lovely, isn’t it?
2. Hang A Dream Catcher
My best friend gave me a dream catcher for my housewarming and it’s one of the best presents I’ve received to date.
Dream catchers are known to catch negative dreams in their web while allowing positive dreams to pass through their hole. As a result, the sleeper is able to sleep soundly and dream of happy things.
While I can’t vouch for the efficiency of a dream catcher (I do receive both good and bad dreams even with one hanging in my room), I can tell you that it does beautify the space.
Dream catchers also have spiritual significance and are known to symbolize unity among all living being.
If you’ve never had a dream catcher before, go ahead and buy one to hang above your bed or by a window. If nothing else, do it for the sake of checking off a cliche.
Though mark my words, you’ll end up falling in love with the presence of this feathery item in your room.
3. Keep Your Space Decluttered And Organized
Happiness should indeed be unconditional, but a bunch of clothes lounging on your sofa doesn’t exactly scream good vibes.
While a dusty and disorganized space creates an unpleasant atmosphere, a clean home attracts positivity and good thoughts.
Organizing takes time, but it’s a habit that’ll simplify your life to a great extent.
Here are some things you can do to stay organized:
- Avoid leaving the dishes in the sink at night.
- Dust off the surfaces in your home on alternate days.
- Buy storage cabinets to make the task of organizing easier.
- Clean your bathroom once a week.
- Organize your wardrobe and shelves at the start of every month.
- Declutter your closed spaces regularly (drawers. shelves, fridge.)

4. Put Your Books On Display
There’s no doubt that books are magical portals that can take you into another world or shift your entire mindset regarding life.
The words inside a book can be life-transforming, but the feel of a book from the outside is just as magnificent. Just four books lined up together on a table can transform the mood of the whole room.
Think of all the cafes or homes you’ve visited that have books decorating their corners. Wasn’t the vibe of these places cozy and welcoming?
Liven up your space by putting your books on display. A bookshelf is the perfect choice for this and can be stored in an empty corner of your bedroom or the living room.
If you don’t want to invest in a huge bookshelf for now, then consider getting a tree bookshelf. It won’t occupy much space and can be used to display your favorite books.
You can also use bookends to display some of your books on your desk.
My Recommendations:
5. Pick Gentle Colors
Soft shades like pastels, earth tones, and light blues and greens create calming vibes. The more items you possess in such neutral colors, the more pleasing your interior will be.
Whenever you’re shopping for new house items, go for neutral colors and patterns that are soothing to the eye. This rule can be applied to your electronic gadgets, bedsheets, curtains, and furniture.
There will obviously be exceptions to this, and it could also be that you just prefer dark colors over light ones.
I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum and have found that lighter shades add more vibrancy and softness to the home.

6. Play Music
I am a music lover through and through (like, who isn’t, duh), but lately, I’ve leveled up my music game even more by keeping my music speaker on all day long.
I knew music is therapy for the soul, but I never used it to romanticize my life until now. And I am honestly surprised by the variety of music there is in the world. There is music for every type of setting.
You can chill to groovy songs or stay sharp during work by playing some focus music.
Heartbreak songs will accompany you on days when you’re looking to channel your negative emotions, and happy songs will add a perfect backdrop for your upbeat mood.
You don’t have to blast the music to absorb its soulful vibes. Playing music at low volume throughout the day will be sufficient to keep your energies calm and create more good vibes in your home.

7. Create Cozy Corners
The couch and your bed shouldn’t be the only place you hang out in your home. There should be a few cozy corners you can find solitude in, especially for your me-time.
You can put a recliner next to a window that offers the best view from your house. How about setting up a swing set in your backyard? A hammock or a swing chair would work great as well.
If your room is large enough, you can use a makeshift mattress on the floor, cover it with a soft bedsheet, and use it as your self-care corner. I use a similar setup for my mental detox sessions.
I could go on and on with these suggestions, but you’re going to have to look around your home and get creative here. For more inspiration, head over to Pinterest and steal some ideas from your favorite pins.
8. Use Pleasing Fragrances For Good Vibes
Aromatherapy is one of the best ways to create instant good vibes.
I mean, who doesn’t like exposing their senses to pleasing fragrances? After all, good fragrances are one of the sweetest things that make life so beautiful.
Scented candles or essential oils like lavender and jasmine can promote relaxation and enhance your mood, which is why these things are must-haves for your wellness bucket.
If you don’t already own a humidifier, then get one ASAP. You can add essential oils to it and keep the air around you smelling nice.
I keep my humidifier on the nightstand while sleeping; it’s known to improve the quality of your sleep and keep your hair and skin healthy.
9. Display Meaningful Items
You don’t need to fill your house with items that mean the world to you. Too much special can lead to not-so-special, but a home isn’t a home until it has a bunch of personal items out on display.
Things like photo frames and meaningful artwork add a personal touch to your interior and can evoke positive memories and emotions.
Here are some things that you can add to your walls and shelves for positive vibes:
- Artwork
- Family photographs
- Posters of your fav celebrities
- Your favorite quotes
- Strong messages for yourself
- A vision board
- Your DIY projects
- Awards and medals
10. Live With Gratitude
You could be the richest person on the planet, with a large home and a super luxurious life, but none of that would mean much if you don’t have a grateful heart.
Gratitude invites success and growth. It’s one of the habits that happy people swear by for a rich life, and good thing for you, it doesn’t take a lot to invite this beautiful feeling into your heart (and your home.)
Every morning when you wake up, close your eyes, touch your heart, and think of things that you are grateful for. It could be your pet, your guitar, or something as basic as a comb (no kidding).
Cherish all your possessions and be grateful for all the furniture in your house. While retiring an item, say a quick thank you to show your gratitude.
And lastly, be grateful for all the little things you have in life. This way, you’ll find countless objects in your home that you can use to channel positivity, and good vibes will be more accessible to you.
