Here are 41 things to do alone in summer to create a fun, cozy, and aesthetic season that feels like yours.

If you’re spending the summer alone, it can feel like you are missing out on things the rest of the world is enjoying.
But summer doesn’t belong to groups. It belongs to energy. And you get to decide what that energy looks like for you.
This can be the summer you decide to glow up and enhance your health.
It can be the summer you master the art of romanticizing, so that your days feel like they’re right out of a movie.
It can be the summer where you stop waiting for plans and start creating your own.
These are the things you can only do when you’re by yourself. Nobody else is going to come help you glow up or improve your relationship with yourself.
So, even if you have people to plan things with, you need to have solo summer plans so that you can come out of the season a better and happier version of yourself.
Because doing things alone in summer isn’t sad. It’s freeing, intentional, and kinda important.
So if you’re ready to make this season feel like yours, here are 31 things to do alone in summer.

31 Solo Summer Ideas To Try
1. Wake up early before the heat hits
Summer mornings are your secret tool to creating a good day. Before the sun gets intense, the world is calm and breathable.
So, wake up early and spend this time in peace. It will feel like you’ve claimed a quiet part of the day just for yourself.
2. Go on 9 pm ice cream runs
On summer nights, stepping out late is actually fun and not very tiring.
So on an evening when you feel like having something sweet, make yourself get out of the house for an ice cream instead of eating it on the couch.
Walk to a nearby store, get your favorite flavor (or try something new), and take your time eating it outside.
It’s a smart way to get yourself out and earn your treat (even though you don’t have to, but choosing to do that is still nice).
3. Take a solo beach vacation (because you can)
There is something wildly freeing about booking a solo beach trip just because you want to.
You don’t have to coordinate schedules or make any compromises. You get to decide where to go and how to spend your days.
Walk on the beach, sit with a book, eat what you feel like, and move at your own pace. It’ll be the ultimate main character summer experience!

4. Wear your favorite summer outfits
You don’t need plans to dress cute in summer (or any season, actually).
Put on your favorite summer outfits for everyday tasks like walking, buying groceries, and working from home.
It feels good to be pretty for your own eyes and energy.
5. Watch ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’
I haven’t watched this show yet, but based on how popular it is and all the visuals I’ve seen, it looks very summer-coded.
You have beachy vibes, warm lighting, soft emotions. Basically, the kind of show that makes you feel like you’re inside a summer montage.
So, watch (or rewatch) ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ by yourself. Even if it’s just for the aesthetic, it’ll definitely help you romanticize your summer more.
6. Pick up a summer glow-up routine
I am not one to ever promote using a lot of skincare products, but it’s such a girly and pretty thing to do.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to have a well-thought-out skincare routine, then try it this summer.
Don’t blindly add products to your routine, because that’s not good for your budget or your skin.
Instead, have a basic cleansing-moisturizing-sunscreen routine for morning, and replace sunscreen with serum at night.
Use an ice roller on your face in the morning (harmless and so soothing), put on an under-eye mask once a week, and use sheet masks if your skin isn’t sensitive.
Throughout the season, build small glow-up habits that work in summer, like hydration, daily walks, and eating fresh foods.
And this is how you build a real glow up routine for the season!

7. Have late-night window moments
One of the most superior main-character things you can do is have late-night window moments (like how they do in the movies).
You just open your window at night, let the air in, and sit there contemplating life.
You can maybe add music to the vibe, or let the silence simmer.
Perfect way to soak in the softness of summer nights that can often be missed when you rush through them.
8. Make a summer playlist and listen to it on repeat
I don’t think any bucket list on my blog can ever be complete without mentioning playlists.
In my defense, though, music is the best way to set a season’s mood and take yourself places.
So, for this summer, create a summer playlist that feels light, fun, and yours.
Play it during your walks, showers, and lazy afternoons. Blast it on the speaker in your room and enjoy not having anybody tell you to turn it down.
9. Shop summer books at a bookstore
Walk into a bookstore with no rush and let yourself wander (because that’s what bookstores are for).
Look for light and easy reads, like romance, beachy fiction, or anything soft and escapist. Those genres usually rock in summer.
Flip through the pages, read random blurbs, and pick something that feels like summer to you.
Matching your books with the season makes it feel like a whole experience. It’s how I pick what books to read!

10. Go out for an iced coffee
We often go out for coffee with friends, but a solo coffee date is just as fun and should be a thing.
Pick a cute cafe nearby, order an iced coffee, and sit with it for a while.
Let yourself enjoy being alone in a public space. It’s a good way to build confidence while spending time with yourself.
11. Journal about your summer energy
If there was ever the most solo activity ever in the world, it would be journaling. It’s cozy, thoughtful, and very summer-coded.
Pick a tiny journal and make it all about summer. Write what you want this season to feel like, make your solo bucket list, and set intentions.
Writing down about the kind of summer you want (calm, funny, glowy) will help you actually move in that direction.
12. Go out for a slow solo breakfast
If you want the ultimate beach-vacation vibe without traveling, then go out for a slow breakfast.
Order a healthy and fulfilling meal and your favorite coffee to go with it.
Cafes are less crowded during summer mornings, which will make the whole experience more enjoyable.

13. Redo your space for summer
If you want a little indoor project to work on, then redo your space for the season.
Make every inch of your home (or just your room) air and uncluttered.
Put lighter bedding, change the cushion covers and the curtains, and bring a plant and some summery decor.
Every indoor activity you do in this cool aesthetic will be ten times better.
14. Take aesthetic photos of your summer days
We often only click pictures when we’re with someone, or for social media. But photography is so much more than that.
This summer, make yourself click aesthetic photos of the sunlight, the colors, your drinks, your walks, the sky, and your outfits.
Do it just for your eyes, and help yourself see your life as something worth documenting.
15. Have your coffee outside every morning
Even if it’s just your balcony or terrace, take your coffee in the morning.
The mix of fresh air, sunlight, and a slow start will lift your mood. It’s one of the easiest ways to slow down and begin your day feeling cozy.

16. Read a lot of books
Summer is honestly the best time to fall back into reading because of the slow afternoons and long evenings.
The ambience makes it easier to sit with books for longer sessions.
So, make use of your personal time to read as much as you can (even if it’s on your Kindle).
Genres that usually work in summer are light-hearted romances, small-town thrillers, and beach reads. But pick books that you actually want to finish.
You’ll have so much fun going from place to place in your mind as you go from one book to the next.
17. Go on long sunset walks
Summer sunsets last longer, and the sky looks beautiful during this time. So, go on long sunset walks whenever you can make time.
The heat usually starts fading during this time, and everything is golden. You can just exit in that calm and slow moment for a few minutes.
18. Work on a business idea
Businesses can require some investment, I know, but working on the idea of them is free for all. You never know where it could take you.
Spend your free time researching ideas. Notice what people are buying and think about what you would enjoy building on the side.
Even a few hours a week of thinking and planning could turn into something really exciting for you.
You don’t need to launch anything or invest money right away, but just start exploring. This would honestly be the best use of slow summer days.

19. Start a YouTube channel
There’s something about summer that makes it feel like the perfect time to begin something new.
So, if you’ve been thinking about starting a YouTube channel, just go for it. Don’t overthink it and don’t worry about the perfect setup.
Film simple videos, share your routines, your thoughts, and your summer days. It doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful.
20. Do a 90-day meditation challenge
If I had to pick just one thing for you this summer that could alter your life, it would be a 90-day meditation challenge.
Just pick a time (like 5 or 10 minutes), and meditate for that duration for 90 full days, no exceptions.
It doesn’t have to be perfect or deep. You just need to sit quietly and focus on your breath.
Your mind will slow down, your reactions will be softer, and you’ll have the mental strength to pull off anything this summer.
P.S: If you prefer guided meditations (which is what I do), check out Guided Meditation on YouTube. All of their videos are very profound and engaging, and they are always posting new stuff.
21. Grow a little garden
Summer is literally the perfect time to be gardening. And the best thing is that you do not need a backyard. Just start with a few pots on your balcony or windowsill.
You can pick herbs, flowers, or simple plants. It will make your space so much more alive.
And watering your little garden, watching it grow, and taking care of it daily will bring you the kind of joy that can only come from tending to nature.
My father lives alone these days, and he’s just started growing a garden. Received a picture of these lovely marigolds from him just this morning:

22. Explore new podcasts
Summer is perfect for getting into new podcasts because you can listen while doing almost anything (walking, getting ready, or just lying under a fan).
Try a mix of genres, like light storytelling, self-growth, and fun chats. It will make your solo time less lonely and more engaging.
23. Watch a summer-themed movie every weekend
Pick one movie every weekend that feels like summer and sit down to enjoy it.
Keep your snacks cold, lights dim, and watch it after sunset for the full vibe.
It will give your weekends a soft structure and something to look forward to, even when you don’t have plans.
Here are some summer-coded picks to get you started:
- Call Me by Your Name
- Mamma Mia!
- The Last Song
- The Parent Trap
- Eat Pray Love
24. Spend a day by the pool
If you have access to a pool, then awesome! If not, then find one just for a day and spend the whole time there.
You can sip a nice matcha, have a homemade salad, and read a book. Float around, sit with your feet in the water, and let yourself cool down properly.
No other activity could be more summery than this.

25. Make your own cold drinks at home
Skip the packaged drinks and start experimenting with your own cold drinks at home.
Make chilled lemonade with mint, iced coffee, fruit-infused water, and homemade iced tea.
It’s an excellent way to make hydration less boring and give yourself little things to look forward to every day.
26. Do messy bun and no makeup days
When you’re spending the summer with someone, you kinda think a little about your appearance.
But summer is the season to feel comfortable in your natural state instead of constantly trying to look put-together.
So, go ahead and give yourself messy bun and no-makeup days (even if you find yourself in the company of people).
Follow skincare and haircare, take care of your hygiene, and wear comfy outfits that you like.
But give your skin and hair a break from the makeup and heating tools, and enjoy keeping things low-effort.
27. Step out after it rains
Post-rain weather in summer is my absolute favorite.
When it finally rains after a hot day, everything smells fresh and feels light, and it’s hard to think about the problems in life.
So, this summer, whenever it rains, make sure to step out afterward. Take a little walk, grab a coffee nearby, or just breathe in the smell while standing on your balcony.
You might even be lucky enough to spot a rainbow, like I did the last time it rained in my area!

28. Bring in scents to romanticize the season
Scent is one of the easiest ways to romanticize your alone time.
Light a soft, summery candle in the evening, wear a fresh or floral perfume during the day, and put citrus-scented sachets in the corners of your room.
You can also make a simple potpourri with dried flowers, citrus peels, or herbs. It will bring a cozy and lived-in summer vibe to your space.
29. Watch the sunsets from your terrace
Ah, is there anything prettier than sunsets in summer? I think not.
This summer, challenge yourself to watch as many sunsets as you can. Make it a ritual where you sit down and watch the sky change colors.
Summer sunsets are dramatic in the best way, and taking a few minutes to notice them will make your day feel complete.
30. Take a pottery class
Pottery is such a perfect mix of alone time and gentle social energy.
You can show up, focus on shaping something with your hands, and stay in your own little world if you want to.
But at the same time, there’s always the option to chat a bit with people around you. It’s calming, creative, and will give you something tangible to take home at the end.
I’ve already joined a class nearby, and am having so much fun!

31. Do a fitness challenge
Summer is a great time to commit to something physical because movement feels more natural when the days are longer.
Also, pouring into your fitness is a great use of your personal time.
Pick a simple challenge, like daily walks, a 30-day workout plan, or a step goal, and stick to it.
If you already do workouts, then you can challenge yourself to try the 75-hard or 75-soft challenge. Or you could do Chloe Ting’s famous summer shred challenge.
Just be sure to keep it realistic based on your lifestyle so you don’t burn out.
The goal here is to teach yourself to be consistent with your physical health and feel stronger in your body by the end of summer.
Summers Alone Can Be Good!
When you’re spending your life alone (for however long it may be), it’s easy to look at it just as a way of passing the time until you’re with someone.
But this summer, I want you to remember that being alone is how you build a life that’s all yours.
This season has that energy about it that can make you enjoy being alone.
You can finally stop waiting for plans and start creating moments. And you can create days that don’t depend on anyone else showing up.
Because once you figure out how to do that, every season after this will get easier and prettier.
So no, you’re not missing out. You’re just doing summer differently. And it might end up being your favorite one yet.
