Trust me, it’s easier than you might think.
The concept of “that girl” has taken the internet by storm in recent years, and the craze only seems to be growing.
I’m usually skeptical when it comes to social media trends, but any buzzing talk around wellness always intrigues me, and “that girl” is one of them.
“That girl” is a woman who takes care of her body, wears whatever the heck feels good, and prioritizes her mental health.
She has a ton of confidence (something that every woman is worthy of), goes after what she wants, and lives a big life through the power of tiny habits and self-care rituals.
For obvious reasons, every woman wants to be “that girl”, but the idea can seem intimidating and too much like running after perfectionism.
But, if there’s ever a good time to fully embrace your inner “that girl”, I’d put my money on the season of summer.

I thrive internally during winters, but when it comes to body wellness, summer takes the cake for being the season of health and rejuvenation.

In this post, you will find 5 simple yet powerful hacks to become “that girl” in summer. If you’re ready to glow-up this summer, keep reading.
How To Become “That Girl” In Summer
1. Level Up Your Intake Of Water, Liquids, And Fruits
The key to keeping your system healthy and keep your skin glowing – Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate.
Hydration is the simplest yet most important habit you can adopt to become “that girl”, and the hot temperature during summer reminds us to drink more water.
Besides drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day, you need to fill your plate with seasonal fruits.
Watermelon is the perfect choice that you can add to your diet every day in summer. It is rich in water content and super sweet to eat.
Stock up your refrigerator with berries, grapes, peaches, and cherries, and make them a part of your salads, smoothies, and breakfast bowls.
I usually depend on green tea to level up my hydration, but the scorching heat and a steaming cup of liquid don’t really go hand-in-hand.
That’s why iced tea can be a blessing during the summer and everyone should have it in their pantry.
I am currently obsessed with this raspberry iced tea from Lipton and highly recommend it if you’re looking for a better alternative to packed sugary beverages.
It’s the right amount of sweet and refreshing, and I might be slightly obsessed, but it’s helping me resist the sodas lined on every freaking shelf at the supermarket, so not really complaining.
2. Care For Your Skin
The sun during summer can be harsh on your skin.
Even though you should be on a skincare routine throughout the year, the hot months demand you update your regime to cover all the
First and foremost, start wearing sunscreen with at least 30 SPF. You’re going to need it to stay protected against harmful UV rays.
Use cold water to wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Foam foaming cleansers are generally good choices for summer.
Many women tend to skip the moisturizer during summer thinking it’s not necessary, but that’s not true at all.
You need a moisturizer for healthy and glowing skin during all the seasons (even if you have oily skin.)
Go for a moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid as one of the ingredients. It will avoid causing heaviness and stickiness while still hydrating your skin.
I highly recommend skin exfoliation at least once a week to get rid of dead skin cells. Carry oil-absorbing face wipes in your bag to use when you’re outside.
Your lip balm should also contain SPF. Apply it in the morning and after your meals. Wear protective apparel like sunglasses and a hat to ward off the sun.
If you end up with sunburn (which is likely to happen once or twice), use aloe vera gel to soothe your skin.
3. Keep Switching Your Workouts
There are literally zero reasons to not work out in summer.
The season offers perfect conditions for a plethora of activities that you can partake in.
And you know what they say about getting healthy – if you aren’t moving, you aren’t winning.
Instead of staying holed in your room in the evening, head outside for long walks, jogs, and running. That will take care of your cardio requirements.
Spend your Sunday mornings at a park doing stretches on the grass. Nature and exercise make up a terrific combination.
Home workouts are always a good option. At this moment, I am on Day 8 of Chloe Ting’s Summer Shred Challenge, a workout program that I absolutely love blasting to.
Chloe really knows her workouts and her Summer Shred series is super popular.
I did her challenges last year and had amazing results, so decided to come back for the new series.
Check out my last year review here: Reviewing Chloe Ting’s Summer Shred Challenge
Basically, you have a ton of options to stay active during the summer.
Swimming, biking, hiking, and trekking are some other great ways to sweat it out while having a truckload of fun.
Summer exercising will be a breeze with the right intentions in mind.
Don’t exercise with ‘beauty’ as your main goal. Instead, show up to the ground every day because it makes you feel good, strong, and healthy. 🙂
4. Make Your Weekends About Self-Care
To be “that girl”, you need to put your mental health above everything else. A healthy mind resides in a healthy body, but I believe the reverse is just as true.
Becoming “that girl” is about embracing all the areas of wellness that make up a good life, and your brain’s health is a prominent part of that.
There are many good habits that would boost your mental health, but for this summer, there is one tiny habit I’ll ask you to stick to.
Make your weekends all about self-care, and do it on repeat without fail. This will help you unpack your weekly stress and recharge your brain for the coming week.
Weekend Self-Care Ideas
- Allow yourself to sleep in late.
- Take a long bath.
- Pamper your skin with a DIY facial and mani-pedi.
- Do yoga for stress relief.
- Spend some quality me-time by going out on a solo date.
- Cook a nice meal for yourself, or order from your favorite restaurant.
- Read a book.
- Indulge in a hobby.
There’s something extremely satisfying about making time for your mental well-being and dedicating a good chunk of your time to self-care.
It reminds you that you are the main character of your own life and are worthy of all the goodness that the universe has to offer.
Side Tip: You can take this a step further by creating a self-care night routine.
It’s a mindful way to rid yourself of your daily worries and take care of your mind on an everyday basis.
5. Update Your Wardrobe For Summer
We’re down to our last hack to become “that girl” in summer, and this one is the most fun.
When seasons change, so do our wardrobes, but I prefer shopping for summer over the other seasons because a) It’s cheaper, and b) There are many options to pick up from.
Flaunt your feminine energy by updating your wardrobe according to your preference.
If you’re a casual-loving gal, buy some light and fluffy tees and get two new pairs of shorts. A pair of comfortable sandals won’t hurt your pocket either.
Fashion-loving bees might want to add some playsuits, jumpsuits, and floral dresses to their summer wardrobe.
Also, get some scrunchies and pins to tie your hair in trendy updos.
Every woman should have at least one summer dress that she can wear for a weekend outing. If your budget allows for it, do buy some cute home-wear clothes.
You deserve to feel like a queen, no matter the season, occasion, or place.
Be “That Girl” This Summer
When it comes to being healthy, there is a lot that can be done. But starting all the healthy habits in one go can be overwhelming, and can lead to mental and physical burnout.
You don’t want to waste away your summer running around in circles trying to be healthy. It doesn’t have to be that hard at all.
The 5 tips mentioned in this post are easy to stick to, yet they are highly effective for the ultimate summer glow-up.
You can become “that girl” in summer and maintain that energy for the rest of your life.
Just have fun with your health routines and do not be discouraged by setbacks, because being stress-free is another good trait that “that girl” excels at. 🙂
