Here are 9 amazing ways to find your purpose in life and build something you’re proud to call yours.

Some things in life are really hard to figure out, but the hardest of them is probably your purpose.
It’s funny, because without even knowing it, we spend a lot of time working towards finding our purpose.
We go to school to take classes, then earn a degree, and then a job.
And throughout this long process, what we are looking for is a purpose.
Without a purpose, we often end up feeling empty and wondering why we’re doing anything at all.
And since you clicked on this post, I am guessing you need a little help finding your purpose in life.
I can help because I was in the same position three years back.
I was fresh out of college with a mathematics degree in hand, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do anything with it.
So, I decided to do an MBA and even prepped for the entrance exam, but lost inspiration for it.
And then, I worked as a copywriter for some time before again going back to Mathematics and becoming a tutor.
Still, I wasn’t happy. It didn’t feel right, what I was doing.
I left my job, without any direction, cried a lot, and then finally decided I was going to stop chasing the wrong paths and finally find my purpose.
My determination got me to this full-time earning blog (which wasn’t started as a side project, btw, I was all in from the beginning), and the best health and joy I’ve ever had in my life.
So, this blog, in a way, is my purpose come to life. And now, I want to help you find yours (it’s literally what I do for a living, haha).
What Does Your Purpose Look Like?
Before we get into the ‘how’ part, we need to gently undo a belief that’s probably been sitting in your head for years.
You’ve been told that your purpose is this one big, perfect thing. Something you’re meant to find.
Like there’s one path, one passion, one career that will suddenly make everything click. And until you find it, you feel like you’re doing life wrong.
But here’s the truth that made me breathe easier when I finally understood it:
Your purpose is something you build, not something you magically find.
It’s built from the way you spend your time, the things you care about, the habits you repeat, the people you help, and the version of yourself you keep choosing to become.
Which means that you’re not lost right now. You’re just in the building phase.
And in this post, we are going to make that phase intentional. Let’s find out how.

How To Find Your Purpose In Life
1. Ask Yourself The Right Questions
I know this post is all about finding your purpose in life, but in reality, you can’t think about that every single day.
The questions you ask yourself need to be better than that.
When you keep asking, “What is my purpose?” your brain kind of shuts down. It’s too big, too final, and too much pressure.
It’s like asking yourself to solve your entire life in one sitting. Of course, you’re going to feel stuck.
So instead, what you need to do is make the question smaller and more useful.
Start asking yourself things like:
- What kind of life would actually feel good to wake up to?
- What kind of work would I not dread doing every single day?
- What kind of person do I secretly want to become?
- What kind of content, conversations, or ideas naturally pull me in?
These questions might not appear life-changing, but that’s what they are because they will get you moving.
Because purpose isn’t something you figure out in one moment.
It’s something that slowly becomes clear as you ask yourself better and more honest questions.

2. Look at the Patterns in Your Life
You know how you think you’re ‘just confused’ or ‘don’t have anything special’? Yeah…not true.
Your life has been quietly leaving you hints this entire time. You just haven’t been trained to notice them.
Think about what you naturally gravitate towards, like:
- Things you can do without forcing yourself
- Topics you can talk about for hours
- The kind of posts you stop scrolling for
- The things people compliment you on without you even trying
Maybe you’re the friend everyone comes to when they’re confused about life.
Or maybe you’ve always loved organizing things. Maybe you’re obsessed with routines, habits, wellness, or mindset shifts.
Or perhaps you are hugely obsessed with stories in all forms, be it movies, shows, or books.
None of this is random, you know.
We tend to dismiss these things because they feel normal to us. But what’s normal to you is often your strength.
So instead of brushing them off, start collecting them.
Because when you put those patterns together, they will start pointing somewhere.

3. Try More New Things
You cannot think your way into purpose. You just can’t.
You can journal about it, make lists, watch videos, read posts like this (hi), and still feel stuck.
At some point, you have to do something.
I know it can be scary to start.
Because what if you pick the wrong thing? What if you waste time? What if you’re not good at it?
But I want to very gently remind you that you are already wasting time by staying stuck.
If you can relate to all this, then it’s high time to change the approach.
You don’t have to start things with the ‘forever’ mindset. Let yourself experiment.
Try things with a light mindset, like:
- Start a blog and see how it feels to write consistently
- Pick up a hobby you’ve been curious about
- Learn a skill just because it interests you
- Put yourself in environments you wouldn’t normally choose
Every time you try something, you learn what you like and what you don’t enjoy. You learn what feels exciting to you and what drains you.
And that’s how you build clarity and slowly come closer to your purpose.

4. Pay Attention to What Gives You Energy
A lot of us are good at things that completely drain us.
And then we build our lives around those things and wonder why we feel stuck, tired, or low-key unhappy.
So instead of just focusing on what you’re good at, you also need to focus on what gives you energy.
What do you feel like doing even when you’re tired? What leaves you feeling satisfied instead of drained?
It might be something small that you’re not even taking into consideration.
Maybe you love writing, but only when it’s about personal growth.
Or maybe you enjoy helping people, but only in one-on-one conversations.
Maybe you like creating content, but not in a super structured way.
Those nuances matter a lot.
Because your purpose isn’t just about what you can do. It’s about what you can keep doing without losing yourself.

5. Don’t Wait to Feel Ready
When I was struggling in life, I read it in a lot of places not to wait for the right time.
It took me some time to practice that advice, but once I did, I realized how life-changing and important it is.
You are not going to feel ready. Not before you start.
There’s no magical point where you suddenly feel confident, clear, and fully prepared to take action.
The people who are living a purposeful life now had to start with whatever they had.
They were unsure, just like you, but they still started and kept going. And then slowly, things start making sense for them.
What this should tell you is that confidence comes from taking action, and clarity comes from experience.
So if you’re waiting to feel ‘sure’ before you begin, you might be waiting forever. I know it’s a hard truth, but you have to accept it.
Start before you feel ready. That’s the best trick there is to it.
6. Build a Life You Actually Enjoy First
This tip is so underrated, and I wish more people talked about it.
You don’t need to figure out your purpose first to enjoy life.
In fact, trying to find purpose from a place where you feel drained, bored, or disconnected makes it way harder than it is.
What you need to do is make your everyday life better.
Romanticize your routines a bit, take care of your body, go outside more, keep your space clean, and do small things that make your day light and fluffy.
When your life is good, your mind stays good too. And it becomes easy to align yourself with the life you should be living.
Because purpose doesn’t grow in chaos or burnout. It grows in a life that feels good to live.

7. Don’t Think of Your Struggles As a Waste
When you are struggling in life, it can be hard to adopt a positive perspective.
But the you’re struggling with—the confusion, the low phases, the times you felt completely off track—they’re not just random chapters in your life.
They’re shaping you and helping you move toward a meaningful life.
Most of the time, your purpose is connected to something you’ve personally experienced.
If you’ve struggled with feeling lost, you’ll be able to guide others through that.
If you’ve worked on your habits and mindset at some point, you’ll be better at being able to do it in the future when you need it.
If you’ve rebuilt yourself even once, you’ll carry that wisdom with you for life.
You don’t need to use your pain right now, but don’t dismiss it either.
It’s becoming part of your story, and eventually, part of what you offer yourself in the future and the world.
8. Let Your Purpose Evolve
When finding your purpose, you should not pressure yourself to find the perfect thing or stick to it for life.
You’re allowed to change, outgrow things, switch paths.
You’re also allowed to realize something isn’t for you anymore.
Your purpose at one stage of your life might look completely different later, and that doesn’t mean you were wrong before.
It just means you grew, which is what makes you human.
So instead of putting pressure on yourself to choose perfectly, choose honestly for your current self.
What feels right right now?
Knowing that is more than enough. The rest can be worked on later.

9. Focus on Direction Instead of Destination
I think this is the mindset change that can take a lot of pressure off of you.
You don’t need a detailed, 10-step life plan to find your purpose. You just need a direction.
Something like:
- I want to create more.
- I want to help people feel better.
- I want to build a healthier and calmer life.
Thoughts and feelings like these are enough to guide your decisions.
Once you start moving in a direction, you naturally refine it.
But if you wait for a perfect destination first, you stay stuck, which is something we don’t want.
You’re Not Behind, You’re Just Becoming
I did not write that just for the sake of it. I really want you to sit with this thought.
You are not too late in life. You are not behind or doing anything wrong either.
You’re in a phase where you’re becoming more aware of what you actually want.
That can be uncomfortable, but also very powerful.
Because once you stop living randomly, you get to choose differently and authentically.
Start showing up, keep trying things, and keep listening to yourself.
One day, you’ll be working on a life that feels like yours, and that’s what finding your purpose will look like.
