8 Ways To Nurture A Positive Body Image
1. Wear What Makes You Feel GOOD
Baggy tees and loose pants have a well-deserved spot in your wardrobe, but they might not be what you need on your less-confident days.
Just about an hour ago, I was scrunching my nose at my outfit for today – which included a black tee that reads ‘Busy Doing Nothing’, and zebra shorts.
I love both of these pieces, but they weren’t making me feel any good. So, I took them off and made a dress out of a long tee that comes down to my knees, and dang if that doesn’t make me feel like a casual diva.
Little replacements like this can make a ton of difference. On a morning when you are feeling conscious, a pair of cool sandals might be a better choice than your all-time favorite sneakers.
This is important because your mind resists the idea of looking pretty on your bad days. It won’t want you to step outside of your glum energy. That’s why you need to pay extra attention to your clothes and use your femininity to glow up from within.
P.S: If nothing in your wardrobe seems satisfying, give yourself permission to visit the mall and buy something that makes you glow. You deserve to feel like a queen, my queen, and don’t you ever forget that.

2. Cover The Mirror
The mirror plays a vital role in a woman’s life. It’s the first thing you face in the morning to tidy yourself, and the one thing that you constantly hover near while getting ready for a date.
It’s fun playing dress up in front of the mirror, no doubt, but if this shiny surface isn’t your best friend these days, you cover that thing up, darling. Why should a piece of surface define how you feel about your own body?
You are so much more than your reflection, and even if you can’t feel this truth right now, it’s something your deepest self is already well aware of.
On days when you’re struggling to practice self-acceptance, you might find yourself popping in front of the mirror more often. But this won’t do your body image any good and might instead make things worse.
Do yourself the favor of covering the mirror in your room. This will stop you from feeding your self-sabotaging thoughts and calm your anxiety related to your body.
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and tune into your inner voice telling you that you are beautiful every second of the day.

3. Write A Self-Love Letter
Not in the mood to step outside for a self-date? No worries. A sweet love letter to yourself will work just fine.
Sit down with your journal or grab a piece of paper, and use a glittery pen to write down a self-love letter. You can start by pouring out all your self-doubts and inhibitions, and slowly build yourself up to
For a moment, you might feel reluctant to give this idea a shot. But tell me this – If a loved one were to ask you to write a letter to them because they really need it, wouldn’t you take the time to act upon their wish?
You might not realize it yet, but your inner child isn’t looking for the world’s approval. All it wants is for you to accept yourself and show yourself the love and kindness that you’re deserving of.
Self-validation is not a bad thing, you know.
You could be surrounded by a dozen people who love you for you who you are, but self-love is and will remain the most powerful form of love that your inner self deeply craves.
A self-love letter is a simple but impactful gift you can present to yourself on your grey days. It feels good to recognize your true beauty and tell yourself ‘I love you’.

5. Use Affirmations For Body Positivity
Affirmations are well-put-together sentences that aim to shift your mindset gently.
Sometimes, you need to remind yourself of the simplest of truths in life to feel happy, and affirmations are amazing tools that can help you see the light in the darkest of times.
Read this:
- You are beautiful, and nothing will ever change that.
- Your body doesn’t define your worth.
- You can respect yourself in every shape and form.
Did that feel good? If yes, then let’s try to make these sentences even more powerful.
Speak out loud with me:
- I am beautiful, and nothing will ever change that.
- My body doesn’t define my worth.
- I respect myself in every shape and form.
And that, my beauty, is the power of affirmations that aim to elevate your body confidence.
Reading a string of such affirmations can do wonders for your self-esteem.
It can help you realize that you are so much more than your appearance and that even on your not-so-good days, you are beautiful in every way.

6. Take A Break From Social Media
You might consider social media a perectly normal hobby, but it’s not an ideal way to fill your time.
Sure, it has some perks to it (like social connectivity, awareness, and networking), but let’s be honest, scrolling through your feeds isn’t doing your self-confidence any favors.
All the profiles you admire online and all the posts that make you long for a different body are not real.
They are curated and edited to show off perfectionism, which is something you don’t want to chase after.
On your good days, you’ll be able to admire all the beauty-related content online, but when you’re feeling self-conscious, such posts will only trigger your worse thoughts.
A straightforward solution to this is to simply disconnect yourself from the online world. Deactivate your social media profiles and pour into self-care in your free time rather than reaching for your phone.
Mind you, by taking a break from social life, you’re not hiding. You are simply tuning in to the real world and choosing authenticity.
Whenever you feel more grounded in your self-image, you can come back to the world of social media. But for now, let reality and mindfulness guide you toward a better and more positive body image.

If, after following the above 7 tips, you’re able to elevate your energies, I highly suggest going out on a solo date.
