Make 2025 your year by doing these 13 amazing things that will help you bloom into your best self.
Besides being crazy about birthdays (mine and everybody else’s on this planet), I am also obsessed with the fresh beginnings of the new year.
And honestly, who isn’t?
It’s the best time ever to let bygones be bygones, hit the reset button on life, and embark on a journey to betterment and self-improvement.
But while I agree that it’s fun to wipe the slate clean by setting new year resolutions and allowing yourself to dream bigger, I also feel nervous.
Because let’s be honest – Your new year motivation won’t last forever.
Somewhere around mid-February, you might find yourself going soft on your plans and slacking off with the new year habits that you’d sworn would last all year long.
However, I’ve found that the more balanced your checklist for the year is, the more likely you will be to sustain your inspiration and your happy zone.
For 2025, I want you to try some new things to make this year truly remarkable and different from your past ones.
You never know what one simple addition to your plans could do for your coming year.
So, keep an open mind, and get ready to discover 13 fresh things to do in the new year to enhance the coming chapter of your life.

Let’s get started.
13 Things To Do In New Year
1. Set Goals On A Monthly Basis
The pressure of sticking to your goals throughout the year is unrealistic, because we change and evolve with time.
The zone you start in at the beginning of the year won’t necessarily stick with you as time flies by.
Setting goals on a monthly basis is a much smarter approach.
You get to review your progress every 30 days and decide which goals you want to carry forward, which ones need to be ditched, and the ones that you’d like to put on hold for now.
For example, let’s say you want to become a runner in 2025.
Don’t tell yourself to run 10 miles every day for the rest of the year. You’ll burn yourself out quicker than a candle.
Instead, set a simple goal for January to run for 2-4 miles for five days a week.
When February rolls around, assess your progress, increase the distance or keep it the same, and change your running track for the month to keep things interesting.
Monthly goals might not be what you’re used to so far, but the new year is all about challenging yourself with new ideas and plans.
So, try this one and see how it goes for you. I have good experience with it and cannot imagine setting my goals any other way for the new year.
2. Make Self Care Your First Priority
Career, personal growth, and fitness are the top areas of life that people aim to focus on in the new year.
But having spent the better part of last year prioritizing my well-being, I can say that self-care deserves to be on the list, and not just as an afterthought, but as a first priority.
The reason is simple – Every single aspect of your life depends on your mental health, and self-care is the ultimate way to make yourself happier and more content.
When you practice small self-care habits like unwinding before bed, managing your stress by journaling, and taking care of your body by eating a balanced diet, your body and mind cooperate with you in return.
Productivity starts coming naturally, you feel motivated to get healthy, and you gain clarity on the necessary steps to take for your career growth.
This isn’t something I’m saying just for the heck of it. I’ve experienced all of this firsthand, and so have some of the most amazing influencers who I follow in the wellness industry.
At the risk of sounding cliche, I’d like to remind you that self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a necessity.
And if you truly want 2025 to be life-changing, you need to make this practice your top priority going forward.
3. Travel To A Less-Known Destination
Everyone around you would be talking about exploring some big city or a famous beach destination in 2025, but why don’t you set yourself apart from the crowd by going from something less popular?
There are beautiful places out there that might not be known for their tourist attraction but will give you solitude and an escape from your routine life.
Just go to Google and look for ‘underrated travel destinations’ in whatever country you’re interested in visiting.
I plan on visiting some hidden gems in Himachal Pradesh, which is a gorgeous state in my country, India.
My bucket list has never looked this interesting and colorful before, and I can’t wait for Summer so that I can go backpacking.
4. Create A Side Hustle Out Of Something You Love
Let’s be honest. We’d all love to have an extra source of income or start something that has the potential to become a full-time business.
But the idea of getting started can be intimidating. There’s so much information out there, that you might not even know where to start.
You can either let that fact overwhelm you, or smile big once you realize that with the advancement in technology and information, it’s easier to create a side hustle now more than ever.
Whatever you’re interested in has the potential to earn you money, whether it’s parenting, cooking, or even nail art.
I mean, women these days are earning by even creating crafts and selling them on Etsy.
There are buyers out there for every big and small thing, which means your business can easily boom enough for you to generate a satisfactory income from it.
Put your new year motivation to good use by creating an action plan to launch a side hustle.

5. Elevate Your Style
Confidence doesn’t have to be conditional, but there are certain things that can flame your outer spark and make you feel like a queen, your style being one of them.
How you carry yourself and what you wear is a major reflection of your inner self. So, start using your clothing choices as a form of self-expression and embrace your inner “It Girl“.
Identify your fashion goals and the image you want to project. Study fashion magazines, follow fashion influencers, and seek inspiration to understand current trends and classic styles.
Invest in high-quality, versatile pieces that form the foundation of your wardrobe, such as well-fitted suits, timeless accessories, and essential basics.
Pay attention to the details – from well-maintained grooming to well-chosen footwear and accessories.
Experiment with different colors, patterns, and textures to express your unique personality. Tailoring your clothing for a perfect fit can make a world of difference!
Finally, remember that confidence is the key to carrying any style.
Embrace what makes you feel most comfortable and authentic, and your elevated style will exude a natural charm and make 2025 an elegant year for you.
6. Allow Yourself To Take Risks
Some opportunities come your way, and others you have to create by taking risks.
It doesn’t mean you have to be reckless; it means you step out of your comfort zone with a strategy in mind.
Let 2025 be the year where you make bold changes by trusting in your abilities, believing in your vision, and pursuing your dream life, even if it means navigating unchartered territory.
Start by clearly defining your goals and aspirations, whether they are related to your career, personal life, or passions.
Identify the potential risks associated with these goals and consider their possible rewards. It’s crucial to do thorough research and preparation to minimize unforeseen challenges.
Develop a calculated plan and set achievable milestones to help you stay on track.
Don’t give up on your failures. They are proof that you are trying, and can act as valuable experiences for success in the long run.
In the new year, dare to take chances, because it’s often by taking risks that the most remarkable achievements are realized.

7. Join A Book/Film Club
I love setting reading goals in the new year, but this time, I want to join a book club so that I am more regular with reading throughout the year.
Book clubs or film clubs are amazing for discussing your passion with friends or like-minded individuals.
If you’re an avid reader or are hoping to become one in 2025, then join a book club or create one.
The members will select and read a specific book each month, and then gather to discuss it and share their thoughts.
Movie lovers can opt for a film club, where the participants watch and analyze movies, helping them explore different genres, directors, and cinematic styles.
Both clubs offer opportunities for intellectual growth, social interaction, and the chance to discover new perspectives through literature and film.
They can be a fantastic way to spend your free time throughout the year and engage in thoughtful conversations with others who share your interests.
P.S.: If there are no clubs available in your local area, look for some online. Goodreads has some amazing reading clubs that you can join for free!
8. Use Planners And Journals To Stay Organized
Journals and planners are some of the most sought-after new year items, and for good reason.
Having a planner makes it easy to prioritize your tasks the right way and take things one day or one month at a time.
Depending on your needs, you can either get a daily planner or a yearly planner that would allow you to plan your months as well as days in advance.
On the other hand, a journal will help you detox your mind regularly and feed yourself positive thoughts.
Whether you are stressed, happy, or simply in the mood to doodle something, your journal will act as a drawing board for all your thoughts and emotions.
If you want your journal and planner to be unique and artsy, then I highly recommend checking out To You From Steph.

9. Random Acts of Kindness
Kindness is contagious, and it can shift the way you feel about life and the people around you.
Negative emotions like anger, frustration, and envy find it difficult to reside in a kind heart.
This year, help yourself become a better person by doing random acts of kindness.
Intentionally seek opportunities to make a positive impact on the lives of others, whether they are acquaintances, strangers, or members of your community.
Random acts of kindness come in all forms, such as helping a neighbor with their groceries, paying for someone’s meal or coffee, volunteering at a local shelter, or offering a kind word or gesture to brighten someone’s day.
This practice not only spreads positivity but also enhances your own sense of fulfillment and connectedness with others.
By consistently incorporating acts of kindness into your daily life, you can contribute to creating a more compassionate and caring world, one small gesture at a time.
10. Be More Intentional
The best advice I could give you today is to stop doing things for the wrong reasons and make the coming year all about living with intention.
For example, if you want to start working out, what are your exact reasons for wanting to do this?
Is it because every fitness enthusiast harps about the value of exercise for weight loss, or do you have some stronger intentions attached to this goal?
I mean, sure, keeping your body in shape is a great reason to exercise, but do you know your mental health thrives on this habit just as well as your body does?
You might have already known that, but are you choosing to focus on that intention for stepping onto your yoga mat? And are you also picking the right workouts for your body that you truly enjoy?
When you start living your life with intentionality, every action you perform and every goal you set becomes meaningful.
You learn to avoid goals that don’t mean anything to you and are drawn toward paths that are in better alignment with your core values.
Start setting intention behind all the goals you decide to pick in 2025, no matter how big or small they are, and you’ll find the year unfolding beautifully before your eyes.
11. Explore A New Culture
What culture other than your own has always intrigued you?
You can dedicate the new year to learning things about this culture and fully diving into its colorful details!
Not only will it make you more culturally rich but also make you open-minded, as every culture has a different take on life.
Here are some things you can do to embrace a unique culture:
- Learn their language
- Visit their region
- Try their outfits
- Master some of their popular dishes
- Listen to their music
- Watch movies
I’ll make the year all about educating myself about the Turkish culture. I’ve watched two of their shows so far and everything about this culture really fascinates me.
Some popular cultures you can explore are: Korean, Japanese, Indian, French, Scandinavian, and Mexican.
12. Try Solo Dating
After spending the last year caring for myself as if I am self-dating, I can boldly say that it’s one of the best things a woman can do to fall in love with herself.
If you want to deepen your connection with yourself, become more confident, and maintain your individuality while being in a relationship, solo dating is for you.
Make time for yourself, prioritize your health, learn to say no without guilt, and take yourself on solo dates.
Treat yourself with compassion, say no to your self-sabotaging thoughts, and stand up for yourself like you would for a good friend.
The more time you spend in your company getting to know yourself, the more you’ll bloom in life. Your self-love cup will be fuller, enabling you to pour into your relationships better.
There are zero reasons not to add solo dating to your list of goals for 2025. I really hope you’ll give it a try.
13. Become A Minimalist
If you aren’t using minimalism to simplify your life and become stress-free, then let it be one of the main things you do in the new year.
Declutter your space regularly, keep your drawers and shelves organized, and part ways with items that you’ve had for ages but don’t use anymore.
Try the “one in, one out” rule, i.e., For every new item you bring into your life, remove one item to maintain a balanced and clutter-free space.
Quality is always better than quantity. Remember this rule of minimalism in all your choices, be it food, clothes, or even your relationships.
Limit your commitments to avoid stress, avoid overconsumption, and do regular digital detox to avoid mental clutter.
Turn yourself into a minimalist, and I promise you’ll be ten times lighter by the end of the year than you are diving into it.
Let’s Make 2025 Memorable And Unique
This new year, embrace the opportunity to create a vibrant and fulfilling chapter in your life.
Whatever your resolutions and plans may be, the most important thing is to cherish each moment and make the most of the days ahead.
Here’s to a year filled with growth, happiness, and exciting adventures.
Happy New Year!

I love the article! All are good ideas, which I am currently using. You could add Create A Self-Development Plan, which falls under most of things you listed. I also create a Bucket List for the year of New Things I Would Like To Do. I don’t use Monthly Goals, instead I do Monthly Tasks and break them down to Weekly Tasks. These are things that I need to do for the month and week, but also include goals that I am working on for the year. Hope this helps!

Hi, Robin! Thank you for taking the time to drop a comment. I love bucket lists too! It’s a fun way to challenge yourself to do new things and make the new year stand out. And I really like your approach toward monthly productivity. The more you can break down your goals and tasks, the simpler it is for the brain to act upon them. I think I’d like to try weekly tasks as well. Seems like a smart way to give equal importance to both your short-term and long-term goals.

I love these tips, Akansha! I know that you wrote this for the new year, but here I am in the midst of goal-setting for this month. Glad I found this!
What you said about Random Acts of Kindness is so important. I really want to improve at that. I think #8 – Use Planners And Journals To Stay Organized is also critical when it comes to achieving goals! This has led me also to have so much more free time in my day to accomplish important tasks at home, like learning new recipes and even carpet cleaning. Thanks again for sharing this!
