If it isn’t obvious, I am a sucker for all things related to mornings.
My start-of-the-day routines are more precious to me than my weekend binge-reading sessions (and that’s saying a lot.)
Now, honestly, I am not a fan of Summers, which you’d get if you happen to live in India (it turns into a baking oven from April onward.)
But since this thing makes up about 6 months of the year, I can either sulk about it or make my summers as blissful as I can.
And that’s where my summer morning routine comes in.
It’s what keeps my hot-headed self sane and grateful throughout the dog days, and I’m more than happy to share the deets with my lovely readers.

A Feel-Good Summer Morning Routine
1. Wake Up Before The Sun
I used to think the people who rise before the sun must be from another dimension. It just didn’t seem very humane to me to pull off this dangerous stunt.
One morning, I accidentally woke up at 4:30 am and since then, yours truly has been a morning person.
I mostly try to wake up before 6 am, but as soon as the summers roll in, I adjust my wake-up time so that I am out of bed before the sun.
It’s not a competition, I swear, but you want to do this simply because summer mornings before sunrise are beautiful.
You get plenty of time to set yourself up for a productive day by indulging in a mindful morning routine.
There won’t be an urgent need to hustle, as the world around you will mostly be asleep.
You can bask in the blissful morning vibes and enjoy the solitude that comes from being up at the crack of dawn.

2. Hydrate Yourself
I preach about the importance of drinking water as if it were my sole purpose in life.
I am crazy about my water bottles, my water-tracking habits, and my morning dose of hydration – for good reasons, mind you.
The first thing you consume after getting off the bed is super duper important. Your mind and body are in resting mode during bedtime, but your gut is very much active.
There tends to be an accumulation of toxic substances in your body while you sleep.
You want to flush these toxins out of your body, and water is your best and purest bet against them.
The moment you’re up, head over to the kitchen and grab yourself a glass of fresh water. Sit down, and slowly sip your way through it.
It’s recommended to drink warm water on an empty stomach in the morning, but it’s okay if you want to stick to normal water during summer.
Squeeze in a few drops of lemon or add some honey to your water to turn it into a quick detox drink.

3. Sit With Yourself For Some Tiny Self Care Rituals
Say hello to the favorite part of my summer morning routine. I love indulging in some small morning rituals that make me feel good.
There’s nothing like a splash of cold water on the face to rise you out of slumber, and so that should be your first-morning ritual.
Pat your face dry, and apply a super light moisturizer that doesn’t stick to your skin. A coat of non-colored lip balm should be up next.
Brush your hair, tie them in a ponytail, and sit down with your journal to create a fresh entry.
There’s no need to delve into introspection mode during the wee hours. A few words and reminders to be positive and mindful are enough.
Meditate for five calming minutes, bringing your awareness to the present, and allow yourself to feel gratitude for every little blessing in life.
These tiny self-care rituals will instantly lift your mood and will act as your reminders to slow down and stay unhurried for the rest of the day.

4. Step Outside For A Morning Workout
If a morning workout doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, you need to check out these golden benefits of morning exercise.
Now, during the mornings, you can opt for an indoor workout. Moving along to a fun Youtube workout is always a great and convenient option.
But here’s the thing – you’ll have the rest of the year to stay indoors and sweat out from the comfort of your mat. I mean, stepping outside on chilly winter mornings isn’t a cakewalk.
But mornings during summertime? They are perfectly carved by nature for you to enjoy your workouts outside.
You get to be in contact with the fresh morning air and enjoy the breeze at its coolest.
As a side perk, you can catch the sunrise, which is a sight to behold at any time during the year.
So, for the love of all things that is summer, take your workouts outside in the mornings.
Go for a long walk, take a jog around the park, or roll out your yoga mat on the grass for a light stretching routine.

5. Take A Cold Shower
Hot sticky summers and a cold shower. Need I say more?
Even if you choose to opt out of your morning workouts, a cold shower is just the thing you need to kickstart your day.
Firstly, it reduces your chances of turning into a sweat ball during hot days.
I would know, considering I sweat plenty during the summers and am often rescued by cold showers in the morning.
Also, nothing beats the power of cold water to spur your entire being into action. It is the best way to rouse your mind and send it the memo that hello, it is time to get to work.
I’ve also found that my brain cools off immediately after a cold shower and my stressful thoughts remain in check afterward.
So, body wellness, brain alertness, and a stress-free version of yourself.
You don’t need any more reasons to add a cold shower to your summer morning routine checklist.

6. Summer Skincare To The Rescue
As soon as you’re out of the shower, grab your skincare kit and get working on your face.
Start by applying toner, and then moisturize using a super light cream that doesn’t run down your skin when you step outside.
I also recommend moisturizing your body whenever you shave because we all know what happens if we forgo this little body care ritual. Opt for a body lotion that has SPF.
Also, if you’re not BFFs with sunscreen during the summer, then you need to introduce yourself to it now.
It is the one thing that will protect you against the blistering sun and save your skin from turning into a tomato.
Use sunscreen before stepping outside, and also apply it at least once even if you’re staying at home.
And don’t forget the lip balm. We want to make sure your smile is protected against the harsh summer heat.
While doing your morning skincare, be mindful of your movements and smile at yourself in the mirror.
Products are not the only things that make your skin glow. Self-love is mandatory too.

7. Have A Healthy And Fulfilling Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You get it right and your body will thrive on a healthy gut for the rest of the day.
Prepare your own breakfast and make it healthy, fulfilling, and protein-rich.
Make eggs, drink juice, and include at least one seasonal fruit in your morning diet. If you’re not taking advantage of the fruity perks of summer, then what on earth are you even doing?
Consume foods that heal your gut and help you start your day on a healthy note.
Eat slowly, enjoy every bite, and practice food gratitude through the habit of mindful eating.
If breakfast preparation has been missing from your morning routine so far, then turn to youtube or food blogs for guidance.

8. Plan Your Day
Summer days can seem insanely long, and without a proper plan, you can end up wasting a good chunk of your time.
That’s why I always end my morning routine with my daily planner. It helps me stay on top of my goals and beat procrastination like a pro.
If you believe planning your days isn’t really your thing, then I’d like you to reconsider.
The days when planning used to be a thing reserved for type-A people are long gone.
Everybody I know these days is shopping for daily planners to turn over a new leaf.
Daily planning is a habit that successful people swear by. You get to create to-do lists and feel oddly satisfied every time you tick off your goals.
It could turn out to be the bridge between your current life and your dream life, whatever that might look like.
Get yourself a planner that carries summer vibes. Might as well go full out in our declaration of making this summer bright and beautiful.
