Love the idea of getting organized but not a fan of excessive planning? Here are 15 productive lists you can make to organize your life quickly and efficiently.
Whether you are a student, an office-going birdie, or a busy mom, I’m sure you’ve created lists at some point or other in your life.
From homework and assignments to groceries and bills, lists are the perfect way to assemble your to-do’s in one place and stay on top of your schedule.
As someone who’s obsessed with staying organized, I love making lists of all kinds to keep my life stress-free.
My favorite thing about creating lists is that it’s not a time-taking activity at all, but it always saves me a huge chunk of time in the different areas of life.
So, I decided to create a ‘list’ of 15 lists that will help you organize your whole life (that’s right, 15!).
You obviously don’t have to make all these lists, but it’s going to be super fun for you to see the variety of lists that can be created to become an organized person.
Before you move on, pin this post for safe keeping.
This post is all about productive lists that you can make to become more organized.
Read on if you’re ready to level up your productivity through something as simple as making lists.
15 Lists To Make To Organize Your Whole Life
1. Daily To-Do List
If you haven’t been making to-do lists so far, you need to get started ASAP.
To-do lists help you stay accountable for your daily goals and avoid putting off your important tasks.
You’re less likely to procrastinate if you have a checklist of things that need to get done by the end of the day.
Start your mornings by creating a to-do list and cross off each item as you go through your daily routine.
A to-do list notepad might come in handy for this as you’ll be creating to-do lists pretty much every day. Here’s the one that I use:
2. Monthly Goals List
The new month is amazing for hitting reset on your routine life. The fresh start effect is in full force during this time, which makes it perfect for goal-setting.
At the start of every month, assess your current life structure and review your last month before penning down a list of goals you’d like to accomplish in the next 30 days.
Stick this list on your cupboard or on a vision board. Keeping it in your sight will keep you motivated to work toward your monthly goals.

3. Shopping Lists
Shopping without a ‘to-buy’ list in your hand can be confusing and messy. No matter how sharp your memory is, there are always going to be important items that you’ll forget to buy.
Create a grocery list, clothing list, and stationary list ahead of shopping to keep your house stocked with all the necessary items.
I usually create my shopping lists at the start of the month or the week during my planning. I’ve found that putting my shopping plans down on paper like this reduces my stress regarding upcoming trips to the stores.
Of course, you can always use your smartphone’s notepad to type these lists.
It’s even more efficient, considering your phone is with you at all times. You can access your lists anytime through your phone if you end up making an unplanned visit to the mall.
4. Kitchen Menu
Imagine visiting a restaurant that doesn’t serve a menu. It’ll be an interesting dining experience for sure, but you won’t be going back for a repeat.
Menus make it easy for you to decide what you’re in the mood to eat. And while having a menu at house isn’t the same as using the one at a restaurant, it’ll make your meal planning easier.
In your menu, you can add all the dishes that you know how to cook, and even divide them into categories like ‘healthy’, ‘Sunday only’, or ‘cheat day meals.’
It’s a nice way to romanticize your meal experience at home and be mindful of your eating choices at the same time.

5. Packing List
I love traveling, but packing isn’t something I look forward to doing. It’s a messy thing to do and makes me feel highly disorganized.
No matter how hard you try to be on top of your packing game, there will always be things that you’ll forget to pack. But one solid way to fix any packing errors is to create a list of things in advance.
The basic necessities you need to carry to any place are mostly the same. A list of your travel essentials will simplify the process of packing and also save you time.
Create a packing list ASAP. The next time you’re taking a trip, it’ll come in handy and save you a lot of headache.
6. Sunday Checklist
The weekend is all about chilling and having fun with friends, but there are also many pending chores that need to be wrapped up.
A Sunday checklist will help you get your chores done quickly so that you can later make time for self-care and get proper rest.
What my Sunday checklist normally looks like:
- Create a schedule for the coming week on Google Calendars
- Clean your room
- Organize the wardrobe
- Declutter your phone and computer
- Do the laundry
- Grocery shopping
- Light workout
- Self-care activities (long bath, face mask, journaling, reading)

7. Routines List
Routines play an essential role in keeping you productive. Even if you are someone who likes to go with the flow of things, routines can help you create balance in your life.
From your morning routine to your skincare regime, you can create a checklist for all the routines that you like to follow every day.
The nighttime routine list that I check off before bed:
- Unplug the digital devices
- Brush your teeth.
- Wash your face.
- Apply face toner and moisturizer
- Select an outfit for the morning
- Check your schedule for the next day
- Stretch and relax
- Journal my bedtime thoughts
- Read a book
- Meditate before turning off the lights

8. Anniversary And Birthday Lists
If you struggle to remember important dates and occasions, then spare a few minutes to create an anniversary list.
With this list in your planner, you won’t ever forget the special days in the lives of your loved ones. Any surprise parties or celebrations that need to be organized can be planned ahead of time.
Occasions you might want to create lists for:
- Birthdays
- Wedding anniversaries
- Dates related to your partner (first meeting, first date, and other cute occasions you like celebrating)
I am pretty good at remembering birthdays and anniversaries, but it doesn’t hurt to carry a ‘dates list’ in my phone with me. Can’t risk making a friend mad, right?
9. Bucket Lists
We all have some activities that we’d love to do in this lifetime. Some of them might be sane and doable (like visiting Hawaii), others not so much (going to the moon in a space shuttle.)
It’s easy to work on plans that align with our goals, but bucket list items often go unfulfilled because people don’t take their quirky desires seriously enough.
But in my opinion, these are the activities that make life fun and interesting, and creating a bucket list will ensure that you actually go through with your plans.
Bucket lists you can create:
- Lifetime bucket list
- Yearly bucket list
- Monthly bucket list
- Friendship bucket list
- Seasonal bucket list
I have 20 bucket list items mapped out in my journal for this year. Done with 7, and only 13 more to go. Wish me luck!

10. Reading Lists
Reading is a fun hobby that is productive and entertaining at the same time. It improves your mental health, enriches your vocabulary, and gives you a new perception.
Though it can be hard to make time for reading amidst a busy schedule. Reading lists serve as reminders for you to come back to this hobby whenever you can find time for it.
These are some fun reading lists you can make:
- To-read list
- Favorite books list
- List of uplifting self-help books
- Books to buy
- List of books you own
I love discovering new favorites and then adding them to my growing list of favorite books. And ticking off books in my to-read list might just be the best feeling in the world.

11. Good Habits List
Building good habits and discarding bad ones is essential for self-growth. I try to be regular with my daily habits, but it can be easy to slip up at times, which is where a habits list comes in handy.
A habits list will make it easy for you to stick to your good habits on all days and stay on top of your wellness game.
For a healthy lifestyle, include habits that cater to both your physical as well as mental health.
On days when you are feeling low, you can use your list of habits to connect with your healthy spirits and feel better.
Here is a habits list you can take inspiration from:
- Drink 8 glasses of water
- Cover at least 5,000 steps
- Journal before bed
- 10 minutes meditation
- Eat one fruit
- Do a workout
- Read a book
To avoid stagnancy, update your habits list regularly with new habits, depending on whatever your need of the hour is.

12. Lists Of Favorites
I bet you have a bunch of favorite movies and shows that you love watching on repeat. Imagine compiling all your favorite TV thingies in one place. The sight will be a treat for your eyes.
The first list of favorites I created was a movie list. Now, whenever I am in the mood for watching something I already love, I just scour this list until I find something fitting for the evening.
That’s the best thing about having lists of your favorite things – You can refer to them at random times and treat yourself to your absolute favorite things depending on your mood.
These are some lists of favorites you can create:
- Favorite dinner recipes
- Favorite books
- Favorite happy songs
- Favorite movies
- Favorite TV shows
- Favorite cafes in your town

13. Wish Lists
Even though all online shopping portals have the option to wishlist the items, nothing can beat the satisfaction of writing down the items you wish to buy.
I have so much fun with this activity during my budgeting session. It feels like taking the weight off my mind and taming my restless shopaholic side.
Once an item is out on the paper, I know I’ll buy it someday, which helps me avoid fretting over things I don’t yet have.
Some wish list ideas for you:
- Birthday wishlist
- Monthly wishlist
- Regular wishlist
- Wishlist for the holidays
What’d your wishlist look like on the paper? Create one today and find out!
P.S.: You can put a red mark next to items that are on top priority, so the next time your budget allows for it, you’ll know what items to buy first.
14. Password List
I’m sure you have accounts in about a hundred places, all with different passwords and usernames. It’s so frustrating when you need to log in to a website urgently and your memory decides to ghost you.
You can prevent login hassles by writing down your passwords in a tiny notebook that is easily accessible to you.
Making a password list will help you become more organized in your digital space. You won’t have to waste time resetting passwords and coming up with new letter combinations.
Avoid keeping your passwords in digital devices as they’re not really safe for storing such sensitive data.

15. Gift Ideas List
Am I the only one or do you also struggle to find the right gifts?
I often put off buying presents until the last minute, and then run around different stores trying to find the perfect gift for a friend who’s exceptionally picky.
And then I show up to the party carrying a gift that I’m nowhere near satisfied with. Ugh! The frustration is real.
That’s I’m going to search the Internet for inspiration and spare a whole day to create multiple gift ideas lists.
These are the only types of lists in this post that I haven’t created yet, but I think they’ll be brilliant to save myself from the trouble of looking for last-minute presents.
You can create separate gift ideas lists for your parents, bestie, friends, colleagues, and spouse.
Next time you need to buy a present for any of these people, just whip out the list that you designed especially for them and buy them a memorable gift.
Gift ideas are one of the best types of lists you can make to organize your life.
