7 Tips To Glow Up Mentally
1. Start Your Day By Getting In Contact With Nature
Simple rituals can sometimes be life-changing. Your mornings are one such part of your life that if adjusted well, can make a ton of difference to your well-being.
A glass of warm water and a fulfilling morning meal are some of the good morning habits that are extremely popular in the realm of wellness. But my absolute favorite morning rituals are all about exposing yourself to nature.
Nature is like a tap of happiness available to everyone, but we don’t use it often enough,
It could be that you’re too busy or too forgetful to seek nature in your everyday life, which is why it’s a brilliant idea to create some morning rituals centered around nature.
I love catching the fresh morning sunlight. It’s good for both your skin and your morning mood. You’ll feel positive and bright instantly.
While you’re outside, spare a few minutes for deep breath work. Let this be your morning meditation. You can also drag a yoga mat outside and stretch in the open, or go for a morning jog or a long walk.
On your slow mornings, you can read a self-help book in some airy part of your house. If you’re a morning coffee lover, then drink your coffee by the window.
Basically, you have to tweak your morning routine to make it more nature inclusive. It’ll require a tiny effort on your part but will give you the beautiful mental glow-up that you’re looking for.
2. Get Rid Of Things That Disturb Your Energies
You might not even realize it, but even the smallest things in your room that are not in alignment with your being could be interfering with your mental energies.
Take my old golden cupboard for an example. It was huge and took up a good chunk of the left corner of my room, making my space very cluttered.
I didn’t like looking at it much, and it’s funny how I put up with it for 2 years before realizing that I had the option to get rid of it.
Once I did that, my room was prettier, and that further inspired me to do a complete room makeover. Honestly, the best thing I ever did. My room is now a haven for me, all because I decided to chuck out that giant cupboard.
Take a moment and look around yourself. What are the things that don’t fit in anymore?
It could be an old bedsheet, your pen stand, or some books you no longer resonate with. You might want to slowly replace these things or simply tuck them away in the storage unit for later use.
Letting go of things that don’t make you feel good is a part of growing up and moving on. It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful; it just means you know how to prioritize your mental space and keep your energies flowing well.

3. Do Workouts That You Really Enjoy
We all know exercise is good for your mental health, but knowing that isn’t enough to motivate yourself to work out. It can be exhausting to move your body if you don’t enjoy your exercises.
To glow up mentally, it’s pertinent to follow habits that make you glow from within, and the same rule applies to your workouts.
Rather than forcing yourself to go to the gym, find exercises that thrill and excite you.
Maybe you love dancing, swimming, or riding a bike all over the town. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try MMA to be able to throw a mean punch like Black Widow.
You know what I mean. We all have activities that we love. I am a sucker for walking and hiking, so I stick to it for the sake of keeping both my mind and my body happy.
So, tune out the information that’s telling you to try a certain type of workout. You don’t have to do it their way.
Pick what works best for you and once you’re regular with your workouts, you can diversify by trying new exercises.
4. Be A Regular Journaler
I’ve found that the more I journal my thoughts, the cleaner and healthier my mind space is. Bless this soulful activity, because it is so good and effective. It honestly feels like therapy.
You have a gazillion thoughts racing through your head that need to be sorted, and journaling is the best way to do it.
If you’re combating a negative emotion, reach out to your journal and purge all your emotions on the pages. If you’re happy and content in life, do the same so that you can capture your positive thoughts for later.
Looking back on your happy entries will remind you that your low moments are fleeting and that as a human, you are capable of displaying a wide range of emotions, which is a beautiful fact in itself.
Journal regularly to self-introspect, check in with yourself mentally, and become your own cheerleader.
It’s a habit that will help you nurture self-love and self-care, two aspects of life that add up to create the ultimate state of happiness.
You’ll be able to communicate with yourself more effectively and face your challenges head-on.
Your journal will become a dear friend who you can turn to for guidance and advice. In short, you’ll learn the art of leaning on yourself and trusting your heart to choose what’s best for you.
5. Do A Social Media Detox
No need to gasp, I am not asking you to give up social media forever. I know you need to stay connected to your social world and that’s not a bad thing at all.
The problem is that all the socializing you’re doing on the online platforms is digital. No way can a chat with your bestie replace the joy of talking over a cup of coffee.
But if you’re hooked to your social sites, it can be hard to appreciate the little moments that make life so precious.
When you’re in public, you might notice that almost everyone is glued to their phone screen, and half of them are mostly scrolling through their social media feeds.
But the few people who are reading books, listening to music while walking, or just being without doing anything, are the ones who seem most content at the moment.
To experience life at its best, purge social media from your phone for a few days (even a day is fine, really.) It’s a simple yet effective way to do a mental detox.
See what your routine looks like when you are not present on social media. I’m sure you’ll be able to find some other blissful ways to fill the gaps in your day.Â
6. Meditate In Your Moments Of Distress
We all face distressing moments in life, but our ability to manage such occasions can have a big impact on the state of our mental health.
If you have healthy coping mechanisms for your negative emotions, then it’ll be easier for you to bounce back to your natural flow. One such healthy practice is meditation.
When you feel overwhelmed, it can be hard to focus on clarity and all too easy to slip into a state of panic. You need to remind yourself here that you are in full control of your life, and meditation can help you do that.
In your moments of distress, tune into meditation by focusing on your breaths. Close your eyes, press your hands against your heart, and take long inhales and exhales.
With every release of a breath, you’ll find your overflowing thoughts ebbing away. This is the power of deep breathing, and you might want to harness it as much as you can for an everlasting mental glow-up.
7. Take Care Of Your Body
Pouring into your physical health on an everyday basis will directly nurture your mental health. Your body and mind are interconnected.
The more attentive you are to your body’s needs, the more comfortable you’ll be in your mind.
You don’t need to become a full-fledged fitness enthusiast for this. Simple daily habits can make a big difference.
The first place to start would be hydration. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to keep yourself hydrated. It’ll also help you stay calm and manage your stress effectively.
Eat a healthy breakfast, do not skip any meals, and practice mindful eating to stay in touch with your gut’s needs. Eat what you love, but in moderation, and don’t forget to eat your fruits and veggies as well.
Work out 4-5 days a week to keep your body active, do yoga for flexibility, and practice your skincare routine without fail.
At first, these habits might seem like a lot, but trust me, it gets easier once you’re past the 21-day mark.
Start slow and work on one habit at a time. Eventually, these habits will bridge the gap between you and the mental glow-up that you are so deserving of.
8. Enjoy The Little Things In Life
One common trait of all happy people is that they savor the little things in life. Whether it’s an ice cream cone or a tiny petal of a flower, they are grateful for everything in life that we often take for granted.
Joy is all around us. It’s in your wardrobe hiding in your favorite pieces of clothing, the pages of an old book, and that sweet cup of coffee you enjoy during your breaks at lunch.
It’s up to you how much of that joy you are letting in, and what amount of it you are blocking out. Just being mindful of these little things can change the way you feel internally.
You have a plethora of reasons around you to be happy. The question is – are you ready to finally tune into the good vibes around you and glow up mentally?
