5 Health And Wellness Hacks That Will Change The Way You Look At Life
1. A Morning Routine Is Impactful
Prior to instigating some major lifestyle changes, I was not a morning person.
I was a night owl through and through, hated dragging myself to classes in the morning, and yawned about two dozen times during the lectures.
It took me some time and a lot of frustrating alarm clock beeps before I was able to love the act of waking up early. And it made a ton of difference. But getting up early is just one part of a healthy morning routine.
There are multiple things you should do after your bedtime to signal the start of the day (because trust me, your brain needs the memo.)

The moment you are up on your feet, turn back around and make your bed. It’s a simple way to activate your routine tasks and rid yourself of the lazy morning vibes.
Also, an unkempt bed is an invitation to slide right back in and doze off, so there’s that.
Grab a glass of warm water to flush the toxins from your body. After that, you should freshen up and do some basic grooming.
Wash your face, brush your teeth, and take a shower if necessary, followed by proper skincare. If you like the sound of it, do a morning workout prior to the shower.
I get that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but doing exercise in the morning really changed my life, so I recommend you give it a shot first before dismissing it from your routine.

If possible, prepare your own breakfast, and make it protein-rich. Also, consider creating some morning pages in your journal for a positive boost.
Your morning mood is important in the sense that it sets the tone for the rest of the day. So, it’s up to you to fill it with inspiration, motivation, and some doze of self-discipline for a splendid day ahead.
2. Your Body Thrives On A Healthy Gut
It is a basic fact of life that humans need food to survive. Most of us, however, don’t realize just how big a role our food choices play in our overall wellness.
It is all too easy to indulge in bad eating habits and forgo the good ones that are supposed to be a part of your eating routine.
But here’s another life-changing fact worth keeping in mind. Your body is a representation of your gut health.
A person who eats well and healthy glows on the outside. Their emotions are detached from their food, so they adopt better methods to cope with stress.
For years, I struggled with overeating and didn’t even realize what I was doing to my body. It was a habit that affected my self-confidence, held me back from my true self, and impacted my mental health.
Healing my relationship with food was the best thing I ever did for myself. All of a sudden, I was exposed to an area of well-being that I’d been unaware of so far.
Now, I have better control over my emotions, enjoy eating fruits just as well as occasional scoops of ice cream, and love staying in tune with my gut’s needs. Which is what the whole point of this hack is.
By keeping in touch with your gut’s demands and heeding them on a daily basis, you can access the ultimate body wellness.
It will take time, but if you make some conscious efforts in this direction, nothing can stop you from leading the best lifestyle. For some amazing gut health hacks, check out these 8 healthy food habits.
3. Exercise Can Be Your Best Friend
You probably already know the tons of benefits of working out. It keeps your body in shape, helps you relieve your stress, is important for your health, and is the one thing that should be an active part of your lifestyle.
Despite being aware of this, are you sure there isn’t a part of you that just refuses to process this information?
I know I can only speak for myself, but a lot of my friends agreed when I said there’s a fear that comes from the idea of working out.
Even if you manage to beat procrastination and drag yourself to a yoga mat, it can be hard to put your body through some uncomfortable movements when you’re not acclaimed to them.
There is an awkwardness in spending time doing an activity that you’re not a fan of, and that’s where the crux of the problem is.
You don’t like working out because you haven’t opened yourself to the idea that it’s something you can come to love.

Take it from someone who dreaded the idea of running for 5 minutes but now loves going for a morning jog – Exercising is the best habit you can form for your overall wellness.
Believe it or not, workouts are not your enemy. It’s only the inner critic in you that makes it sound like one.
This is the part of you that loves putting you down and would do anything to stop you from doing a set of jumping jacks.
“That’s too hard,” it might say. “Even if you finished a set, you could never go for another round in a million years. Better stay in bed and sleep.”
My simple solution to silence this annoying voice?
Just get started.
You will never be able to love your workouts until you let go of your discomfort and your incessant need to be a perfectionist. Kill your all-or-nothing mindset, and the rest will take care of itself.
4. Self-Care Is An All-In-One Solution
I find it both funny and stupefying that up until a year ago, I didn’t know what self-care was.
By that point, I was already practicing rituals from the realm of self-care, but becoming aware of this term and its concept helped me improve my ways.
Self-care is about tuning out any external noise to channel all your focus and energy within yourself. The best thing is you don’t need to strain yourself to include self-care in your routine.
Once you become aware of the ABCs of self-care, it is pretty easy to find comfort in it and reap its fruitful benefits.
In fact, the main purpose behind this blissful act is to rid yourself of any negative vibes that you might be carrying. Imagine doing this on a daily basis. Wouldn’t it simplify your life and make everything easier?

The best self-care practices are the ones that add to your well-being and leave you with an immense feeling of satisfaction.
Bedtime journaling is a perfect example of this. It helps you put your anxious thoughts to bed and is a good way to connect to your inner self.
A few more mini gestures of self-care include taking a long bath, reading self-help books, going out on solo dates, meditating, and having positive self-talk. Regular use of affirmations is also a great example.

5. Water Is Life-Saving
Time for the fifth and last of my secret wellness hacks (now not so secret.) If you’re ready to unlock your full potential, you need to be drinking a lot of water. And no, this is not an exaggeration.
Water is sacred because it is the source of life. Without it, the world wouldn’t exist, and life as we know it wouldn’t be. It never ceases to amaze me just how deep its value is for us humans.
Water has healing tendencies, almost a sacred value attached to it. You can accomplish a lot if you learn to drink water in the right amount, at the right point of time during your day.
I know people who wake up in the morning and murmur positive affirmations to a glass of water before gulping it down. It’s a practice that fascinated me enough to try it out and found it to be immensely inspiring.

I use water to stay hydrated, gulp down my worries, and stop myself from feeling overwhelmed. To date, it is my go-to method to heal my stressful thoughts and stay calm.
To add to the list of flourishing benefits of water, it is your best bet against many diseases. It helps you get glowing skin, keeps your gut healthy, and boosts your energy levels.
Ideally, you should aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day. Don’t just reach for it when you’re thirsty. That’s like waiting for yourself to starve before eating your meals!
Always carry a bottle of water with you, and take small sips from it to stay hydrated. Drink a glass of warm water first thing in the morning, and have a cup of green tea every day to up your liquid intake.

One of the best self care treats I do for myself is to go for a walk every morning as the sun is coming up. It starts the day on such a clean and refreshing path. I use this time to set my intentions for the day and feel less stressed because of it.

I LOVE my morning walks too! It’s one of the most beautiful forms of morning self-care that one can indulge in. I’m happy to know you use this time wisely to set your intentions and become stress-free. It’s been some time since I stepped outside in the morning though, and now I feel like I absolutely have to restart. Thank you for the inspiration, Julie.
